Excellent quality/construction. Price would have been high without the Amazon new credit card purchase/discount. I am very pleased with the quality. I have worked in wood for the last 40 yrs. ( I am also a mechanical engineer ) and feel I can judge quality in wood products.
The wood is thicker, the brass heavier, and it is not pieced together of several sections of oak wood glued together. All marks of better quality. The negative reviews almost turned me off this seat, but I got it anyway. Glad I did! The construction and finish are great, and the hinge mechanism works just fine - all four "feet" sit on the bowl. Couldn't be more pleased!
