Excellent quality/construction. Price would have been high without the Amazon new credit card purchase/discount. I am very pleased with the quality. I have worked in wood for the last 40 yrs. ( I am also a mechanical engineer ) and feel I can judge quality in wood products.
The wood is thicker, the brass heavier, and it is not pieced together of several sections of oak wood glued together. All marks of better quality.
There is no reason why this seat should not last for many years.

I have purchased wooden oak toilet seats in the past but finding this on Amazon turned out to be an excellant choice. It is by far the best I have purchased - and the surface finish! WOW!

The negative reviews almost turned me off this seat, but I got it anyway. Glad I did! The construction and finish are great, and the hinge mechanism works just fine - all four "feet" sit on the bowl. Couldn't be more pleased!

I have had this seat for about a year now, and it is comfortable, solid, and has maintained its finish. The brass is untarnished, the wood finish is smooth and unblemished, and the seat is rock-solid, no loosening or slipping. Very high quaility, and comfortable too.

Awesome toilet seat! Yeah, I know, how often do you say that? Well, I'm overweight so I break most toilet seats. This particular seat is extremely heavy and well built, meaning I may wear out the hinges before I break the seat. Also, it's comfortable! Very easy to install and arrived very quickly.

I feel sorta of strange reviewing a toilet seat... but I am fussy about them. I prefer wood to plastic, don't like fuzzy seat covers and that sort of thing.
I've wanted an oak seat for a while... just hadn't found the right one. Was going to buy a new white wood seat and then saw this one.
This seat looks very good on my white toilet. Doesn't look cheap. It has a shiny finish, which means it will last longer with cleaning since the finish will wear off before the wood wears down. And... the most important thing... it truly is a comfortable seat!

5 star all the way. The hinges look like (and maybe are) brass... all-in-all... this is a quality product for where most of the family spends a bit of time. :)

Recently purchased this toilet seat for upstairs bathroom, have one downstairs, but it did not fit the oval toilet so it was returned. Love the toilet seat appearance and wear.

This product far surpassed any similar wooden toilet seat I've ever seen. The finish was flawless and the wood used in the glued up pieces matched well across the whole seat. We liked it so much that we placed a second order for another wooden seat and have replaced one in a second bathroom.

The brass mounting hardware fit the Koehler brand elongated toilet perfectly. The brass was polished and looks better than any of the in-store alternatives we saw.

This is a first rate toilet seat, At $45 it should be and it is. Very high gloss, made of thick oak. All of them are spliced together and depending on the grain color you may or may not be able to tell it, that's the way oak is. The hinge on mine is the brass , it's heavy duty and seems at this point ( after a few months ) that it won't tarnish and should hold up a very long time, In fact this seat is so good you should "will" it to the kids and grand kids like a favorite piece of furniture because this will be around a long time. After I change out my other toilet to an elongated one I will be buying another "Comfort Seat".Also as for the name .."Comfort Seat"...maybe a bad name for a hard wood toilet seat, that's not my view of comfort, if you want comfort get a thick foam squashy seat.This is just a very well made nice looking , sturdy seat.Worth the money.

This seat is very nice, but I was disappointed to receive one with the hinges applied slightly askew and a small defect (bubble) in the finish on the back of the seat bottom. Also, it is not one solid piece of wood as previous reviewers stated; while it is not glued together from four separate pieces as my previous one was, you can clearly see where the wood was pieced together and bonded in one section before the seat was carved. I would have exchanged it for another one, but didn't have the time-- it was for an 86 year old lady whose existing seat had literally fallen apart. So it'll have to do.
