Comfort in sound? Not quite all around..., March 28, 2003
This review is from: Comfort in Sound (Audio CD)
I wasn't too sure what I was expecting when I bought this album. Feeder's past work has progressively improved, but due to the tragic suicide of drummer Jon Lee,I had a feeling that the album would be lacking something having lost one of their third.
Despite all this I was pleasantly surprised. Perhaps not as constant as its pre-decesor 'Echo Park', but some of the songs are the best they have written. The events of the past year and the impact that they have had on song-writer Grant have crafted his work and matured his skills as an artist.
THe highlight of the album is the middle section. 'Comfort In Sound', 'Forget About Tomorrow' and 'Summer's Gone' are the peaks, covering ground Feeder have got close to reaching, but never walked over before.
Sure, the artwork is slightly bizarre on the album cover, but don't be put off! This is a great CD to have, and in Britain has enabled the guys to produce some of their best chart positions since the infamous 'Buck Rodgers'.
