About the Author

Born and raised in Montana, Cassie Kautzmann spent her young adult years crisscrossing the globe as a military spouse with her fighter-pilot husband and two kids. While in college at Montana State University she specialized in computers, spring-loading for a career in the world-wide work-place. When hit with a rare form of cancer in her 50's, Cassie went into her comfort zone behind a computer screen. From there she reaches out with a smorgasbord of uplifting experiences to help get through some of life's darkest days.

Format: Paperback
I read Cassie Kautzman's COMFORT ZONE it in two sittings as it was both compelling and inspiring. Cassie's book shows how she combined medical expertise, the love of her husband, the love of family and friends, and especially her own unflinching love of and trust in God to survive her rare cancer. Cassie lays out her story through a re-look at her Facebook postings and the responses of friends. She ties these posts together with a narrative that helps readers understand what is happening behind the scenes: the medical team decisions, her stuggles to maintain some sort of day-to-day normalcy with kid's weddings and such, a history of her amazing family. Cassie's indomitable spirit rings throughout the book, based on her love of Christ. Her story is a breathe of fress air for all who suffer from the challenge of cancer (or, in truth, any challenge that seems insurmountable).

My friend Beth Wilson gave this book to everyone in our small group about 4 months ago. She had been sharing Cassie's story with us from the begining. I am new to our small bible study group so I didn't start the book right away only because I did not feel a connection. One morning God layed upon my heart to pick the book up...what a wonderful blessing!
I have never had cancer but I am a nurse. I took care of adults and children with cancer early in my career in the 1980's. Amazing is the first word that comes to mind when trying to descibe my admiration for Cassie! Thank you for sharing your story with all of us. The impact of your candid writing will affect others for a life time. I have a young friend with Hodgins Lymphoma. She is having a tough time and I sent Cassie's book to her. She wrote to tell me how she loves reading it and how much it has inspired her. My struggles in life do not include cancer but this strong & courageous woman has shown me how to perservere. May God's love and grace continue to shower this special woman and her family. Pam Abbott Wallace
