This album is Rick's Best... Hands Down!,
By
This review is from: Comic Book Heroes (Audio CD)
I like the following songs:I'm Your Superman I thought that the LP was a more adult LP from Rick... I like this one the most as some of these songs are very deep for its time. This album came out at a time when Rick was trying to hit it big in the US. This LP started out doing well, but the record company thought that something was going on, and a vicous roumer sunk this LP... Aside from that hurtful blow to Rick... Razor and Tie re released this LP on CD in 1991...All I can really say is Brilliant!!! The LP is mature and polished...If it ever gets put out on CD again, please pick this one up... I like some of his early songs compaired to the stuff from the early 80s... He could write some serious music, I wish that this one could have been a hit for Rick... This LP shows that Rick is really the master of the studio... Please re release this album soon!

If anyone would have told me a long time ago that that was Rick Springfield from the soap General Hospital before he before he wanted Jessie's Girl i would have to say right but it is still sounds great after all these years.

Isn't time for a re-release?,
This review is from: Comic Book Heroes (Audio CD)
I have this on vinyl and it is a great album. I don't think the "kiddie" cover helped it very much as it definitely does not convey the depth of some of these songs. I wish they would stop releasing Best of/Greatest Hits collections of Rick and re-release this and the Wait For Night album which were really some of his best and had it not been for bad luck/timing he would never have had to work on General Hospital before making a huge "comeback' after these two albums.

I originally had this album on vinyl in 1973, but re-bought it on CD a few years ago. I hadn't heard the album in many years, but was so surprised at how quickly the words to the songs came back to me, & just HOW GOOD all of the songs really are! What an incredible talent Rick is, especially at the young age that he wrote & performed these songs!
I LOVE this CD!! It's fun to hear his Australian accent come out on some of the songs (as he had recently moved to the U.S. when he recorded this). He must have worked hard to get rid of his accent back then, because there hasn't been a sign of it since then. Anyway, I strongly suggest that you BUY this CD ~ you will be very pleasantly surprised at how unique & moving these songs are! I have never heard anything similar to this album before, ever! Some of the songs are haunting, & eerily beautiful, & the entire album is very, very good!! I just saw Rick LIVE recently (as I have several times before), & he still is a fabulous performer & artist (and still is incredibly fit & good-looking at 62, I might add)!! I wish that Rick would toss a few of the songs from Comic Book Heroes into his LIVE show once in a while, just to THRILL those of us who know them! Keep on Rockin', Rick!! 'Love you!!

A great trip down memory lane,
This review is from: Comic Book Heroes (Audio CD)
I got this album back in 1973 as kid because I was initially attracted to the cover and thought it would be about the Superfriends! What I discovered was a collection of songs that really did run through the entire gamut of emotions. I remember running around the playground and jumping off the swings singing "I'm Your Superman...oh yes I am!". Other songs like "Misty Water Woman" and "Liar" were kind of spooky and mysterious. At the time, I couldn't decide whether this was a kids album or one for adults but later I realized it was the latter. These days when I listen to it, the nostalgia kicks in but what I'm left with is how great these songs really are.
If you're a fan of Rick's mega hits, you really should check out this record to see where he came from and what he's capable of as a composer. Highly recommended.

Comic Book Heroes,
This review is from: Comic Book Heroes (Audio CD)
I bought this disc specifically because I wanted to hear Misty Water Woman. I love it! I also really like Weep No More, Believe In Me, The Liar (my 14 yr old digs this one, too), and Born Out of Time. I like the other songs as well, but these five are my favorites. I am very glad that I bought the disc, and would recommend it to friends.
