why is it out of print?,

How can such a fanatastic, gorgeous book be out of print? Both pictures and words comspire together in their simplicity to creep up on you and take you unawares. What has happened?

The most beautiful cats,
This review is from: Comic And Curious Cats (Hardcover)
I was given this book many years ago, but have discovered it anew since we started reading it to our toddler son. The story is really too complicated for him, but he is entranced by the beautiful cats. Their eyes, in particular, are mesmerising. We revel in the clever rhymes (how often does "verisimultide" appear in verse I wonder?) and can imagine this book becoming a family favourite. What a pity that it's out of print!

A lot of fun!,

Any cat lover will treasure this book. It's a combination of beautiful cat illustrations (which are really almost portraits) and tongue-in-cheek poetry that captures the nuances of personality with which all cat owners are familiar. My fiancee and I have had fun writing Leman-esque poetry about our own cats, inspired, of course, by this book.

What is going on here?,

This book was a gift from my sister. My husband tried to read it to our granddaughters and could make no sense of it. And so I picked it up and made up a story to go along with the pictures. My granddaughters loved my story. Now Sofie is old enough to read and can't believe that the story her grandmother read her for years is actually this book. The story--well, there is actually no story--makes no sense. It is simply pictures and long words.
But because my granddaughters loved it when I read it to them (my made-up story) I gave the book three stars. |
