5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and easy to use!
I used Comic Strip Grammar with my 8th grade Language Arts class. I make a copy of each page on the overhead and we do the activities together. It's a great way to get them to understand the words and enjoy the visuals that go with the jokes. I really like having this book as a resource.

3.0 out of 5 stars Comic Strip Grammar Review
The students I have are Special Education students but I think that the worksheets may be a little too young for my students who are 7th graders. Although I do think that it would be a good resource for teachers with younger students.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Funny, January 28, 2006

I used this while I was homeschooling a 3-4th grader and a 6-7th grader together. It was a great intro for the younger one and a good review for the older one. It was easy to read, easy to use and easy to grade, and I didn't have to fight with them to get them to do their worksheets. The joke level was perfect for the 3rd-4th and got groans from my older kid:)

5.0 out of 5 stars Sneaky homeschooling!, September 10, 2007

I love this - my kids love this! This is perfect as an introduction to grammar - make it funny and they're all over it. Kids are in 6th and 7th grades and we tried a 7th grade language arts book but it was way over their heads. So I turned to something a little simpler so that they could begin to understand without being frustrated. It worked.

We just wish there was another one in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Goofy Grammar, May 3, 2007
This review is from: Comic-Strip Grammar (Grades 4-8) (Paperback)
I teach middle school students in a homeschool outreach/alt. ed. program. I use this book as homework for my grammar class. Several of my students are there because of ADHD or other learning difficulties. One particularly challenging fellow once told me, "You know, your class is the only one where I like the homework. And I'm not just kissing up; I mean it!"
This book is not a complete grammar program. It is, however, a fun and silly way to get started or do a review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comic Strip Grammar Makes Learning Grammar Fun!, June 24, 2011
This review is from: Comic-Strip Grammar (Grades 4-8) (Paperback)
To be honest I was not impressed with the book I had purchased to use for introducing the topic of grammar in our homeschool. The book was dull, dry, lifeless and tedious. If only I could find a book with the enthusiasim of "School House Rock." Lo and behold after a search on Amazon.com I found just the book: Comic Strip Grammar by Dan Greenberg.
Comic Strip Grammar contains forty reproducible cartoons with engagin exercises which make learning grammar fun.
The book is divided into five parts: Parts of Speech, Sentences, Using Punctuation, Using Verbs, Special Topics and Reviews.
Each lesson contains a thematic cartoon, grammar workshop and engaging exercises so students can pratically apply what they have learned during the lesson.
After completing the book my child asked, "Can I do it again?"
Hmmm. Maybe Dan Greenberg should consider expanding and developing an entire grammar curriculum which is based on the "comic strip" theme? I think he is on to something here.

Glad to have this on the shelf for when I need to present something differently. Nobody can resist a cartoon, no matter how seemingly bored.
