5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent overview of the series
This is a great book for long-time fans of the Fantastic Four comic book series. Nearly every era of the comic book series is covered with the exception of the "Heroes Return" era from 1997 (when Jim Lee was no longer working on the title) through 2001 (when Tom Breevort began as editor). The subjects of the interviews are honest. For example, Doug Moench is critical...

3.0 out of 5 stars Is that all there is?
I'll admit I've not yet read this book, although I've been looking forward to it since I became aware of its existence.

Upon learning of the list of contributors to COMICS CREATORS ON FANTASTIC FOUR, I became disappointed rather quickly. Yeah, there're a lot of creators featured that have been associated with Marvel's First Family of Heroes, but there are...

For example, Doug Moench is critical of his year's worth of stories.

The interviews include a good mix of writers (Doug Moench, Mark Waid, and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa), artists (Mike Wieringo, Keith Pollard, and Paul Ryan) editors (Tom Breevort and Ralph Macchio) and writer/artists (John Byrne, Walter Simonson, and Jim Lee). The classic era is represented by Stan Lee, Joe Sinnott and Roy Thomas.

One of the earlier reviews laments the omission of several creators. The publishers acknowledge the omissions by stating that they ran out of space due to the length of the interviews included in the volume.

This book is well worth the price and will be read more than once.

This and Mr. DeFalco's book of interviews about Spider-Man are two of the best books about comics I've ever read. It's so nice to have someone who was involved with the creations interacting with his peers. I hope they do more books like this, even though I know the FF and Spider-Man were DeFalco's two longest-running series.

I'll admit I've not yet read this book, although I've been looking forward to it since I became aware of its existence.

Upon learning of the list of contributors to COMICS CREATORS ON FANTASTIC FOUR, I became disappointed rather quickly. Yeah, there're a lot of creators featured that have been associated with Marvel's First Family of Heroes, but there are some significant talents not included that I was looking forward to seeing in this book - people like Gerry Conway, Rich Buckler, Len Wein, Marv Wolfman, Roger Stern, Sal Buscema, Jerry Ordway, Chris Claremont and Carlos Pacheco. I'm hoping there's a good reason for this apparent oversight by DeFalco.

Your mileage may vary.

Nonetheless, I will be picking this book up as soon as I am able.
