This is great, we're finally getting figures based off Tim Burton's 1989 Batman for the first time, well since 1989.

Over all, this figure looks really good.

This is Batman as seen in the movie Batman. As a fan of the Batman and Batman Returns movies, this figure caught my attention and for ~$10, it was hard to pass.

The head sculpt has some resemblance to the Batman in the picture. However, the sculpt of the body is way better. The bat symbol and belt are sculpted with fine details. You can the ribs on the armor and the muscle on the arms and legs. Even the gloves and boots are highly detailed, which can not be appreciated from the picture in the card.

The paint of the head is precise, with little run-off of the skin color around the jaw, but none on the eyes. The skin tone is ok and matches the picture. The paint of the body is black, with only a little of run-off paint of the black bat symbol on the yellow oval.

The articulation of this figure is good for a "Adult Collector" line:
- swivel head,
- ball-hinged shoulders, hinged elbows, swivel wrists,
- swivel waist,
- ball-hinged hips, swivel thighs and hinged knees

I hardly see figures this small with swivel thighs. However, it lacks articulation on the ankles.

This figure includes a grapple gun and vinyl cape.

Over all, this figure looks really good. If you are a fan of Batman, this one is certainly a must just for the nostalgia factor.

I love it! Although the paint job isnt on par with other dc figures, its a great throwback tim burton batman figure in the 4 inch scale. Ive seen these at target with a painted chest emblem a little out of place. Mine arrived from amazon in place. Articulation isnt great.its ok.The detail is above average on this and guess what? He is wearing the nike air trainers from the movie. Thats right, tim burtons batman wore nikes under his boot covers. Google it or watch the opening scene of batman if you dont believe it. Batman returns he wore air jordans I believe. Anyway, they are on the figure. For 11 bucks its worth it. C'MON! let's get nuts.

Scale is close to the 1/18 batmobile and looks good standing next to it. Quality seems good crammed into a small package. Not a ton of articulation in the legs but otherwise surprising. Articulation includes:head swivel, full shoulder ball joint, elbow bends, wrist swivel, waist swivel, hip ball joint, thigh swivel, knee bend- NO ankle Pretty nice overall if you can get it for a decent price.

Excellent sculpt, Very nice cape (pleather), very pose-able! Paint apps vary. I looked through 6 of these figures and noticed Some sloppy yellow paint on bat symbol. Some sloppy gold paint from utility belt. The grappling gun accessory is too big and bulky. Otherwise, this is worth getting if you're a fan of the 1989 Batman film! Skip the unmasked version and get this masked version.

This is great, we're finally getting figures based off Tim Burton's 1989 Batman for the first time, well since 1989. In Quarter 4 of last year, NECA released their ¼ scale 1989 Batman, which was fantastic. Now Mattel, via their Multiverse line has released this Batman figure. They also released an unmasked variant, as well as General Zod from Richard Donner's Superman II. There is also a Penguin figure from Batman Returns on the way, as well as a Catwoman from Batman Returns, all were on display at Comic Con last year as well as ToyFair.

Everything about this figure is great (with the exception of arguably the most important part, the head sculpt, which I'll get into), the paint apps, the articulation, the cape, and the one accessory (Batman's grappling gun). The detail is really great, I love the job Mattel did on the batbelt and the suit, especially the cape. The cape has an awesome texture to it that is a very good representation of the cape in the film. The grappling gun has nice paint apps and detail, it fits well into Batman's one opened hand (his other hand is a closed fist, which is nice). Really my only gripe with this figure is the head sculpt. It's all one piece, with the exposed mouth section painted flesh color. I think the problem with the head sculpt that makes this figure look a bit inaccurate, is the fact that they made the head articulated at the neck. This bat suit had the mask all as one piece and Batman (played awesomely by Michael Keaton) was left unable to turn his head to the side. So on this figure the cowl doesn't look quite right, there should be more of a beefy neck, with no articulation. The eyes are ok, and the paint apps for the mouth area and eyes are ok, but on some figures can be a bit sloppy.

Overall I am pleased.

The 1989 Tim Burton Batman movie is what started me on a lifelong obsession with superheroes. OF which Batman is my all-time favorite. I remember going to see this movie at the drive-in (I remember drive-ins!) and there was a line of cars stretching around the block! That movie left such an impression on me that, when I went to summer camp later that summer, that I walked around saying "I'm Batman" most of the week! On the way home I picked up a Batman comic at some random drugstore (I remember comic books in the drugstore too!) and here I am 25 years later with this figure and writing a review on Amazon!

The figure is one of the better 3.75" figures I have seen. The sculpt is great, the articulation is nice, and the cape is sweet! I love the cloth on one-side and faux-leather on the other side as opposed to the plastic capes that so many Batman figures have come with over the years. It also comes with a grapple gun that is both cool and disappointing at the same time.

The grapple gun leads to the first of the 2 issues I have with the figure and keeps it from a full 5 stars. The grapple gun is pathetic. I love that they thought to include a grapple gun with the figure, but it's flat and limp sculpt leave something to be desired. The hook itself looks like it's drooping out of the front of the gun and Batman can only hold it down on the handle. This causes the gun to sit awkwardly in Batman's hand and he looks kind of ridiculous while holding it.

The second issue is the lack of a stand. The Batman multiverse line is marketed towards the adult collector. It even says right on the package that it is for the adult collector. What do most adults do with their figures?
