5.0 out of 5 stars aghast at price, July 12, 2009
This review is from: Comidas del Ecuador: Recetas tradicionales para gente de hoy (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
I am the author of this self-published book and am aghast at the price being asked on this site. I recommend that anyone who wants to buy the book go to: www.abebooks.com

Even I am surprised that the book has sold over 42,000 copies in Ecuador. People say it is the Joy of Cooking for this charming, unique country. You can also see some of my Andean recipes in English at: www.michelleofried.org

If you particularly liked llapingachos ("tortillas de papa") o "cebiche" or anything else while you were in Ecuador and would like to invite friends to share the wonderful flavors and textures, please look into www.michelleofried.org where you will find recipes in English. Abrazos fuertes, Michelle

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful adaptations, great information, May 16, 2010

This review is from: Comidas del Ecuador: Recetas tradicionales para gente de hoy (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
I studied in Quito for 10 months, and bought a cookbook because I fell in love with Ecuadorian soups and quimbolitas. This cookbook was chosen for having these difficult-to-find recipes, done in a more healthy way than the traditional methods, and also in part because of the mention of our program director's wife who was a wonderful woman who could be trusted to keep good company!
I soon realized that the book was invaluable for more than these: it also contains a description of local foods and a translation of many foods/ingredients in Spanish, French, English, and German.

Some of the recipes are very challenging (the humitas, for example), but many are easy and delicious (fanesca, cebiche). It is in Spanish, but I highly recommend it for anyone who loves cooking and knows Spanish or is willing to look up some vocabulary.
