Amazing display of musicianship - not Bossa Nova nor samba!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Comigo: Serie Ao Vivo (Audio CD)
Geraldo Azevedo's music owes a great debt to the intricate yet smooth harmonies of bossa nova, yet its primary source of inspiration is the music from the north-eastern states of Brazil. With some possible exceptions - the "samba cancao" Casa Brasileira is one of them - his music is not based on samba rythms, but on the "toadas", "frevos", "xotes" and the like. On this CD, recorded live, his voice is accompanied only by his own nylon-string guitar, and his amazing musicianship also comes through. Simply amazing!
