5.0 out of 5 stars Comin Atcha!
The whole album being written by a young girl called cleo and recorded at the age of 14 is crazy! this chick sounds like shes 20-something not 14! her big voice shines brightly and every track is as sweet and meldoic as can be! its rare to get a girl group outta the UK that can sing, act, dance as well as these girls!
This is a must have album for all r&b fans!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Cleopatra is better than you might think.
When I first heard (and saw) "Cleopatra's Theme" on the Disney channel, I thought it was kind of cheesy. But my friend got their CD, and I discovered that I love some of their songs. "I want you back" is an awesome remake of the Jackson 5 song, and "Life Ain't Easy" makes you think of Robyn, but it's all in Cleopatra's style. You should buy...

2.0 out of 5 stars rather weak debut, January 5, 2004

I liked the group and the two singles...but was disappointed with this album. Too pop-ish, too weak songs and a very weak production. Releasing a Jackson 5 cover-version as a third single probably did the rest.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet as candy, June 9, 2000

With some trepidation, I purchased this CD soon after it came out here in America...and I was pleased! These girls have talent! They write many of their own songs, which are about social issues as well as the hackneyed subject of love. Also, they can hit very high notes. The best songs are "A Touch of Love", "The Bird Song", "Thinking About You", "Two Timer", and, best of all, "I Want You Back". On the latter, they sounded so much like Jackson 5 that when my mother heard it she asked if that WAS the J5 singing. But they should cut songs like "Cleopatra's Theme" and "Dying Rose". The first one was corny and the second repetitive.(although the latter might be better if some of the repetition was replaced with verses) Also, why does the middle sister, Cleopatra, do everything? She cowrites the songs, sings lead on all of them, and the group is named for her. Why doesn't she give her sisters more room in the spotlight? The group's name should be changed and the other girls allowed to sing lead once in a while. Overall, though, these girls have potential and a great sound that should get even better as their voices mature. I hope they release a new album soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good CD, June 16, 1999

Cleopatra is kind of a cross between B*Witched and Brandy- IMO, their best song is "Two Timer." If you are used to listening to B*Witched, then get this CD- you'll be very pleasantly surprised! I think Cleopatra is much better than B*Witched, especially since their lyrics actually make sense, unlike B*Witched! Some of their songs, like Two Timer, are like TLC, except Cleopatra risks going above the note G-- and has success!! I think this is a good CD, unless you're one of those people that restricts themself to ONLY ONE group and label themself with the title "loyal fan." You can have more than one cd. Also parents, don't worry about this Cd- it's very clean, but at the same time cool. Also boys probably won't be all that interested in it, but I think girls between 12 and 17 will all like it a lot.

3.0 out of 5 stars They only deserved a little more credit than they got., September 14, 2005

Seven years is exactly how much time I needed to decide what my opinion was of this album, and here it is: Cleopatra was one of the most talented, if underrated, female R&B groups of the late 90s. That being said, there was definitely room for improvement. While expertly produced, the songs simply weren't catchy enough to have longevity. The title track comes off as egocentric and boring, although the other songs are lyrically skillful ("A Touch Of Love," The World We Live In," "Dying Rose,"). My favorites are "Thinking About You," and their cover of Michael Jackson's "I Want You Back." These tracks depict Cleopatra as they really are - catchy, fun, and sweet.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Very Impressed, September 25, 2010

One of the girls, who happens to be the main singer on a lot of the tracks, sounds like a young Michael Jackson. The band even does a Jackson Five song so they must realize the truth of this. Aside from 2 of the slower songs, this whole CD is very annoying.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my top five albums, April 28, 2007

This review is from: Comin' Atcha! (Audio CD)
I bought this album back in '98. I wasn't going to at first because I thought it would a bit cheesy with the childish video that introduced them to the US "Cleoptra Comin Atcha"... then I was fortunate enough to catch them in a concert special on the Disney channel. I was sold! Cleopatra Higgins is AMAZING. Her voice is one of the most beautiful I'd ever heard. I can't believe she sang with such conviction at the age of 15 years. Her song writing talents are pure genius for a kid of that age as well. I definitely hope she will achieve the stardom she deserves. My personal favorite song on the album is "Whatcha' gonna do Boy?" It sounds a bit futuristic. I could do without the remake of the Jackson 5's "I want you u back" and the boring "Two Timer". Anyway, buy this album, there is much to enjoy here:)

Listen to:
7) Bird Song
6) The World We Live In
5) Dying Rose
4) Don't Suffer in Silence
3) Life Ain't Easy
2) Touch of Love
1) Whatcha' Gonna Do Boy

I really miss those days when people actually HAD to sing to sell records. I look forward to your solo album Cleopatra Higgins... You rock!
