Ferret Music recording artist Chimaira made some big noise with their 2009 release The Infection. Chimaira paved a successful path on tour, bringing their unrelenting, blistering form of metal to larger audiences by performing on the Music is a Weapon Tour. Now Chimaira is set to release COMING ALIVE a live CD with TWO DVD's. This is an incredible package from a sorely under-rated band in the metal scene. For this price, which is low, a new documentary thats almost 3 hours, an older documentary, a full live show, and the CD included as well. All bands should deliver a package as good as this.
The picture quality, filmed in HD, is incredible. Sound quality is excellent as well. If you like Chimaira at all, definitely get this. Salute to the band for releasing such a great film.

The great thing about The Dehumanizing Process is that it showed Chimaira the way you'd want to see them: during the highs and lows, at their best, through thick and thin, no frills, no glamour. It showed the band during the recording of their second full length The Impossibility Of Reason, and the touring cycle that immediately followed, plus a full length show from Holland in 2003. It was kind of like a prelude to how Lamb Of God would do their Killadelphia dvd. 6 years later, Chimaira's now five albums into their career, and they've been touring heavily behind their latest The Infection. Coming Alive is pretty much like a sequel to The Dehumanizing Process: you've got the making of the album (which was originally included on the bonus dvd of the limited edition for the album), and the tour that followed. It is certainly something to watch if you enjoyed The Dehumanizing Process, but the meat of the package is most certainly the second disc which features the full live performance from their 2009 Chimaira Christmas show, filmed in 1080p HD, and extras including 45 minute Resurrection making of documentary (originally on the bonus dvd with the limited edition for that album), and never before seen footage. Also, included is a bonus audio cd of the show minus "Implements Of Destruction" which was cut for length since the cd is already 78 minutes without it. This is an awesome package from one of my all-time favorite bands (I'm still not regretting the Chimaira tattoo on my arm that I've had for 6 years now), and when it comes to this band, you should never expect any less than awesome.

First i must commend them for having waited till they had more than 2 albums before putting out a live cd, Personally i wont buy a live album from a band that puts one out sooner no matter how much i like them. Okay i've been a fan of Chimaira since the release of This Present Darkness, And yes i actually have a physical copy of the album not just the songs downloaded from the internet. I say that not to boast but nowadays people seem to think that your longevity of fan-dom means your a bigger fan not true, I got lucky one day mullin through [...] I know I'm old i stumbled across TPD it had 3 reveiws all good so i scooped it up. Not to ramble, But whether your A fan from 2000 or The Infection is your introduction to this band it doesn't matter. Time put in doesn't make you a bigger or better fan, Not slaming them anytime they try something new or different or because the latest album wasn't what you thought it should be. A fan supports there band and let me tell you no band deserves more support, priase, and overall respect than this band. Chimaira is the last band I got into that has me anticipating each new release, And this album explains why.

DVD 1 - COMING ALIVE: Four Part Documentary - Is a look into a year and a half of a hard working grateful for what they get to do band, If these 6 guys seem down to earth and cool it's because they are i've met them and got to BS with all of them when they came to my town. Very few band are willing to be seen for who they really are when the cameras are on them they switch into rock-n-roll-look-at-me-cool-guy. Not these guys this documentary shows you real people dealing with low times and riding on emeasurable highs (which they deserve), This docu further solidifies my respect for this band.

DVD 2 - CHIMAIRA CHRISTMAS 10: Live Concert Film - If you havent been lucky enough to catch these guys live 1)bummer 2) don't trip skip this show is caught on hi-def so its crystal clear and its shot well so u can at least get a good look at what keeps fans coming back to there shows. But seriously quit laggin n' go see them live its gnarly.

CD - This is just the audio from the show and i must say the track listing perfectly showcases this band, I know someone might throw the no way it should've had this song or that song. As someone who has been hittin up shows fur aboot 15 years and to give a clearer picture i've averaged 1 show every 2 months, So i've seen a handfull and I have learned they don't make there set list custom to you so shut it, hit the pit and enjoy the fact your getting to see a killer band live (Or if your listening to the CD then shut it, do the one man slam dance and enjoy the tunes LOUDLY)

So yes this a must for the Chimaira die hard or the casual fan, Actually any fan of metal needs this album so turn off the A7X, take that stupid tapout shirt off unless they actually sponsor you. Now go to your local record shop and support a talented and vastly underrated band by buying this album your ears will thank you.
