5.0 out of 5 stars Great CoC campaign, November 24, 2010
This review is from: Coming Full Circle (Call of Cthulhu) (Paperback)
Coming Full Circle is one of the best Call of Cthulhu campaigns you've never heard of. I have run a couple of the scenarios in this campaign for my group, and found them both enjoyable to run and a really nice change of pace for the players. The book focuses on traditional American folklore instead of the usual Mythos villains. Very nice for a GM who has jaded players who expect Deep Ones around every corner - it's good to keep the players guessing. Not every mystery has to have its roots in the Mythos, and perhaps it's best to change the pace every now and again in order to keep the horror fresh when the players actually encounter Mythos beings.

The first two scenarios, "Cold Spot" and "Remains to be Seen," are both superb. "Remains" is a bit heavy on player handouts, which seems nice in theory, but in actuality took too much time for the players read. The third scenario is heavy on Christian folklore, which might not be everyone's cup of tea. I have never run the fourth scenario because of the ten year gap between it and the first scenario (all of the original PCs died before we could get to it. Oh well.).

Excellent interior art by Heather Hudson, very nice graphic layout, and a solid set of optional rules for running psychic PCs round out an otherwise excellent package. A good addition to any Keeper's collection. The fact that it takes place in the 1930s places it outside of the "classic" era, but in my experience the 30s are just as good as the 20s for CoC campaigns. Also a good choice for investigator groups that (somehow) survived the 1920s.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent scenario collection or campaign, September 15, 2001
This review is from: Coming Full Circle (Call of Cthulhu) (Paperback)
This is a solid collection of non-Mythos CoC scenarios set in New England in the late 1920's and the 1930's. It would be easy to change it to earlier in the 1920's if desired. There are four scenarios which can either be played separately or linked to form a modular campaign. It's an especially good choice if your gaming group does not have the time or inclination to plow through an extended, continous campaign. The scenarios feature plenty of investigation and roleplaying, as well as possibilities for combat. It's classic supernatural horror brought to gaming.

This review is from: Coming Full Circle (Call of Cthulhu) (Paperback)
Coming Full Circle is yet another excellent sourcebook of Lovecraftian horror produced by Pagan Publishing. This book contains a wealth of game-related material on the more legendary myths of New England. Here the witch, the phantom, and the vampire of ancient legend take center stage to the sanity- blasting eldritch horros of the Cthulhu mythos. Additionally, this sourcebook offers great material for psychic investigators (ala late Fox show "Millenium"). I highly recommend this book for serious players and readers of Lovecraftiana.
