This book is intended to make ones home more pleasurable to come home to. Alot of the suggestions for the seasons were to plant flowers in pots, place fresh flowers around the house, change the table linens for the season (does anybody use table linens anymore?). Other suggestions were to sing outloud to musicals like The Sound of Music (1965 Film Soundtrack - 40th Anniversary Special Edition), plant your own garden, take a 30 minute walk, and then of course spring clean. I'm not sure how this helps me create family traditions?

Another suggestion for creating a family ritual was to go on vacation. Really? This wasn't the kind of suggestion I was hoping for when I purchased this book. The spring recipes were roasted asparagus, asparagus with fried eggs, frittata di asparagi, artichokes, brown rice, roasted potatoes, mixed salad, pasta ortolano, paglia e fieno, pork loin, salmon, pork roast with herbs and sea salt, butterscotch pie, bunny coconut cake, sugar butter, etc. All the recipes are for adults to prepare, many are very elegant, there weren't any recipes to include your children in the cooking.

Summer rituals were to sit and watch people go by, canning, euro-kissing, go to a park and listen to birds chirp. Included is a pantry list. Recipes were Hamburgers Italian style, tomato vodka sauce, pasta estiva, pasta alla norcina, scottadito d'agnello, pork chops, ricotta tart, etc.

Anyway, you get the idea. I wouldn't have purchased this book if I'd know all this. There's little I can use in my day to day life. There's a lot of travelling to places to do things and spending lots of money to buy stuff.

This is another book that I had such high expectations for. I was not very pleased with this. I wanted ideas for my house and food, but I would need a very large budget to pull this stuff off.
