ok Welsh comedy,
By Beth "bethiejw2" (Mesa, AZ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Coming Up Roses [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This movie is worth seeing for its irregularity alone. It's a Welsh movie with subtitles. It kind of reminded me of a Dennis Potter movie and it's not just the lipsynced scene. It has the same gritty comic feel.
Once a movie house is closed a projectionist is in a stump. Another former employee comes up an idea to save the place, growing mushrooms. Frankly the last part was too cutesy eccentric for my taste but if you like digging up forgotten films it's worth a look. 2.5 rounded to 3.

Whenn the town's revenue peters out, all band together to raise mushrooms in the town's now-closed movie theatre. In Welsh with subtitles. The lead man calls the lead woman's granddaughter "hamster" as a nickname. Where else but Wales?!?
