Book Description

Ben Warren has life all figured out. At 35, he’s successful in his work and free as a bird everywhere else. He has no desire to be tied down like some of his friends, and he sees no reason to change that. Then the unthinkable happens and causes him to rethink everything about everything.

Kathryn Walker can’t figure out what she’s doing wrong in the dating department. The rest of her life makes sense. She’s compassionate, strong, honest, hard-working and still alone. She wonders if she is doomed to spend forever single. Little does she know that fate is taking a major turn in her life. In fact, she doesn’t even see it happening until it has. Can she ever get past the fact that Mr. Right didn’t show up in the way she thought he would?

4.0 out of 5 stars Heartbreaking Yet Hopeful...Highly Recommended January 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Ben's journey is one all-too-familiar. He's used to fast living and worldly pursuits yet is emotionally stunted and finds it difficult to deal with a life-changing monkey wrench thrown into his party lifestyle and going-through-the-motions as a carefree bachelor. Kathryn calls herself pathetic, and she's not too far off-the-mark in that self-assessment as the novel begins because she's too absorbed with worrying and whining about meeting her Prince Charming. However, when she looks past her single status and focuses on her professional life as a social worker and tends to the needs of her patients' families, the story takes off when she meets Ben on her hospice ward where his father is a patient. It's a sweet, evolving relationship between the two as they each learn lessons in life, loss and surrendering long-held fears and beliefs and find comfort and peace with one another that transitions into deep feelings of affection and then into love. The author's tendency toward frequent POV shifts tends to be disjointed and disconcerting at times, but she's written well-drawn characters with whom the reader can readily identify and embrace. Her dialogue is realistic, the secondary characters are wonderful, and the writing is sharp overall. It's not an easy book to read at times, but it makes the reader think and care, and that alone makes it well worth the journey. Well done, Ms. Stallings. This book was provided to me by the author in exchange for my honest review, and I thank her for it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gritty, inspirational romance January 21, 2012
By HG
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Coming Undone is an inspirational romance that will appeal to readers who enjoy something a little more gritty and who enjoy character-driven novels.

It's the story of Ben Warren, a man who's life gets turned upside down, and the woman he crosses path with, Kathryn Walker.

I liked the compassion Kathryn showed toward Ben. Also, Stallings does a good job of introducing her characters.

*Please note that I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for my review. However, I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get ready to feel emotions..... December 14, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Coming Undone is a wonderful story of a young man, Ben, who doesn't know God, who never took the time to find out who He is. He lived his life selfishly, enjoying women, fun, the fast life.
Kathryn is a young lady who does know the Lord. Yet in her world, loneliness prevails. She is wonderful at her job as a grief counselor and hospice care worker. Yet something is missing in her world.
Two very different worlds collide when a tragedy enters the life of young Ben. These two people meet and begin a journey of friendship and hope.
Extremely touching, this book brought me to tears several times while I was reading. The engaging prose is written well, and following the thoughts of these two wonderful people made for a wonderful story.
Get ready for an awesome story. Please have kleenex......you won't be sorry you read this lovely story!
