The good:
- C&C continues to have the best controls on a console. The new radial interface is an improvement and helps with gaining some 'speed' when selecting the commands. I was worried that this interface would be as sensitive as Mass Effect, but it's not. Selecting what you want is easy. - The missions are well balanced and are not necessarily harder than C&C3. The problem - as usual - is not with the game difficulty, but with selecting the controls as fast as with a mouse. I don't know if difficulty has been toned a little for this XBox 360 version, but it's manageable. - This is an expansion pack, but doesn't require the other game to play it. Missions start similarly to C&C3, without having the entire Tech Tree available from the early missions. This will help out people that never played this before, as will give them a chance to learn the game. There is also a Boot Camp section - but it's too basic. SPOILER ALERT: Skipping the Boot Camp unlocks an achievement. The bad: - C&C games have never been known for deep stories, but this game really has the most confusing one. In the end, you watch the cut scenes for what they are and enjoy what follows after them. - My favorite faction is GDI and this game only covers NOD. However - again, the good thing is that the missions bring the best out of what NOD can do, so this works out pretty good in the end. Bottom line: If you like C&C games, you will like this one too. Until Red Alert 3 is released, there is enough material here to keep you busy, from Multiplayer, to Skirmish and Kane's Challenge matches. If you are new to this game, maybe C&C3 would be a better starting point, because it has more missions and more variety. In any case - C&C games continue to be the best RTS offering on consoles.

Poor Port of the PC Version,

This review is from: Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath (Video Game)
The expansion pack to Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, "Kane's Wrath" adds new units, sides, and features to the original game.
The main new feature of the game is the six sub-factions added to the game's existing three sides. In addition to the base sides (GDI, Nod, and the Scrin), each of these sides now has two sub-factions that are similar to the main faction with a specific focus or bent. GDI has the Steel Talons, an armored unit that uses improved mechanized units (specifically, the walkers from Tiberian Sun rather than traditional tanks) at the cost of infantry units, and ZOCOM, who specializes in countering the effects and growth of Tiberium, but has no sonic or artillery technology. Nod has the Black Hand, who have improved flamethrower technology and more powerful infantry units at the cost of air units and stealth technology, and the Marked of Kane, who have a majority of their units as cyborgs rather than traditional soldiers. Finally, the Scrin have Reaper-17, a heavy attack faction that trades subtle units like aircraft for more powerful ground units, and Traveler-59, which focuses more on speed and warp technology and less on actual combat. For the most part these sub-factions are fun and interesting, and add some neat new units to the game. However, they're not particularly ground-breaking; they all fall into the "specialize in one, less adept in another" category that's been used for sub-factions in every other RTS. Sure, it's nice to see some new units - or returning old units, like the GDI Wolverine and Titan from Tiberian Sun - but they don't really breathe new life into the game. In addition to these changes, there's a new campaign mode and an alternate mode - either a Risk-like turn-based game for the PC, or a series of challenges and events for consoles. All of these are a nice attempt to infuse some variety into the game, but they all wear thin pretty quickly. Basically, if you liked C+C3, then the game is a welcome pack of new content; if not, it probably won't change your mind. There are some specifics regarding the 360 version of the game, as well. Camera and controls are both handled fairly poorly; the idea of replacing the PC's boxes of options with a simple radial menu for selected units was a nice idea, but as a whole moving around, ordering units, and managing a war are all annoyingly frustrating to pull off. Furthermore, the game's tactical display is too large, covering up a huge percentage of the screen. The graphics in the game are the same as in C+C 3, which is to say decent, but not particularly detailed. For whatever reason, with the Xbox 360 version, the graphics are difficult to see - as in, they all blend in with the background and are not sharp enough to make out as unique units. Therefore, it's unusually difficult to manage your units or see other ones. The minimap is similarly difficult to see. As a whole, Kane's Wrath is a decent attempt at an expansion pack, but doesn't have many virtues on its own. The Xbox 360 version is even worse due to the poor controls and graphics, and deserves special note for its poor quality. The PC version gets a 7/10; the 360 version gets a 5/10.

It's a good real time strategy game and it got here the day it said it would my new copy was 15$ so great deal! but less than a week these scam artists honestly think anyone should pay 50+$ for a game that originally sold for 30$?! The game is fun but the asking price currently for a new copy is laughable!

This game has allot of battles to play. Short games are exciting and has many level of strategies to consider. So far the games have been very energetic and the enemy switches between their strategies and have resulted in different ending and effective technologies to use against. It is a good game. However, there are several slow down in graphic speed due to many units that can show up on the screen at the same time. You will definitely notice a slow down on the frame rate speed.

This pack has alot of new units but makes it very confusing with all the new factions sections in the game. Each faction get its own unit types and so forth so you dont get to play with all the new units. you must choose your factions to get a certain unit. At least this game closed all the games story lines over all very average for me to much stuff and you cant use it all.

Excellent expansion for those who loved Tiberium Wars. Personally, I like playing with NOD the most out of the 3 factions, so this game was a lot of fun for me. If you want a longer, more detailed campaign mode, check out the Tiberium Wars game first.

The game is beyond fun. Much better than Tiberium Wars. Amazon.com had this product for $20+ CHEAPER than Wal-Mart. Gameplay is easy to master, easy to control everything, great settings, and of course, Amazon.com sent my package and it arrived a day sooner than expected. Really appreciate it.

Remember I have not had a chance to play more than the starting level. I like the game from the old days and this one looks more advanced just like we need it to be.
But you will have to ask me again later or play this one on your own because my review is premature. |
