I bought this to clean up an egg shaped silicon carbide wheel. I was very impressed with how easy and quickly it took .120" off. I have used diamond dressers that run in the $100s to purchase, aside from not being able to accurately adjust the angle (to the degree) this tool is much better. No need to mount to the grinder and it works. The diamonds are set very deep and loss won't be an issue. Using a back and forth motion a very clean and flat surface is only seconds away. If it ever wears out I would certainly buy another. Great job Commando!

This is one fine tool. I've had many wheel dressers over the years and none approach this Commando diamond.
I cleaned up and balanced a 6" stone to grind TIG tungstens, perfect! It cleaned and aligned the face and both sides.
I am able to a better job with it than my $400 dedicated tungsten grinder. I've used it on 8" wheels with the same good result.
It's so good that I've bought a spare in case I were to break or loose this one.
And the price is right, I'm here to buy some for my brothers today.

Bought this and just tried it out. Flattened, squared, and concentrically trued both wheels in 60 seconds. WOW!Also cleaned off some soft metal build up. I could not be happier! (unless it came with a gift micro-brew ale).

To be perfectly honest, this dressed the wheel of my grinder a LOT faster than I thought it would. I went from a "visibly valleyed" wheel (from sharpening gouges) to a flat one in less than two minutes.

I'm using a slow speed (~90 rpm) wet grinder with a 1.5 inch wheel if that helps.

This is an outstanding tool for the price. Wide enough to true the entire surface of most wheels in one position, eliminating the need for a jig that maintains true perpendicular to the wheel (though I still prefer to do so to vary the surface contact). Quickly trues up even a very misshapen or grooved wheel, and if used regularly, cleans out soft metal build-up and trues wheels in seconds. This thing works so good, I bought an extra. Seems like every time you find something that works great at an AFFORDABLE price, when it does break, wear out, or gets lost, you can't find it again, so I'm not taking chances!

In response to the two reviewers who had problems, unformity in the diamonds can be an issue that slips through QC with any diamond tool- I checked the surface over as soon as I got mine to be sure before using it. I'd just ask them to replace if there's a stone that's causing a problem.

If angle is a problem, try a bench or frame mounted tool rest, which gives a greater positioning range than most rests that are part of the grinder. The one I use also extends and retracts the plane of the rest relative to the wheel, so you can set minimal distance between the wheel and the rest when dressing.

I bought this grinding wheel dresser to true up a Norton wheel that was out of round. This tool made short work of the task and I was happy with the results. For the price it is a good deal.

This wheel dresser worked very well on my stone grinding wheels. It got them flat and smooth in about 20 minutes for 3 wheels! The width of the grinding surface was able to span the whole width of the wheel. I would recommend this product to anyone who uses their grinding wheels regularly.

I bought this dresser instead of Grizzly H5944 Wheel Dresser #0 because it has a wider dressing surface area. That allows you to dress the whole width of the wheel simutaneously. With that other model you would have to slide your dresser back and forth possibly causing divits in the wheel.

I gave it 3 starts because it would be easier to use if the surface area was at an angle.

This things rips through material like crazy. I used it on an old stone wet-wheel that was in bad shape, deep gouges & out-of-round. About an hour later I had a nice round wet-wheel and the wheel dresser doesn't even look used.

This item makes it easy to true your grinding wheels. I even true a wheel that is about 1/2" wider than the product. Not much more to say except it's a good product for the price.
