Interesting, but hardly worth buying!, November 21, 2000
This review is from: Commando (Audio CD)
Vanessa is known for her squeaky love songs, so well mirrored on her debut English album in 1992. Here, on this new French single, her style is different. Opting for a funkier, punk approach to music, she wails her way through an absolutely insipid track, becoming both boring, and redundant, in the process.
Vanessa is best known as Johny Depp's French lover, and the mother of his child, and this record was seen as a comeback of sorts. 'Commando' is sung in French, of course, but Vanessa utters the repetitive word 'Commando' in a vein that soon starts dissolving into an Americanized accent saying 'Come on!' While this is sure cringeworthy material, she somehow pulls it off, ....
Recommended only if you own her 1992 English album.
