Book Description

Clarendon Library of Logic and Philosophy October 26, 1978
In this wide-ranging study, Quinn argues that human moral autonomy is compatible with unqualified obedience to divine commands. He formulates several versions of the crucial assumptions of divine command ethics, defending them against a battery of objections often expressed in the philosophical literature.

This review is from: Divine Commands and Moral Requirements (Clarendon Library of Logic and Philosophy) (Hardcover)
Adds a bit to traditional DCE which enables the concept to leave the appropriate proportion of action to God while enlarging and reflecting the ways in which the virtues can create a more hollistic and natural moral framework. With a strong defense of DCE against traditional and modern criticisms, Quine provides a strong and illuminating argument.
