There are many commentaries on the Rule of St. Benedict, but only this one is recommended reading for observants/postulants at Fontgombault and their daughterhouse at Clear Creek. Suffice to say, this commentary is quite authoritative, and transmits the spirit of St. Benedict faithfully, without corrupting it with novelty, as other commentaries are wont to do. It remains a commentary as such, as opposed to modern "commentaries" in existence today.
