4.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad, January 30, 2011
This review is from: E-Commerce 2011 (7th Edition) (Pearson Custom Business Resources) (Hardcover)
I am using this book as part of a course the comprises Virgina Tech's masters in information technology, specifically an ecommerce course. I balked at the cost of this book initially questioning whether I would obtain as much value. First, I have read chapters 1 through 5 and I have only noted one obvious editorial mistake, a duplicate sentence. Otherwise, I have read technically oriented books that were published under longer time frames that reflected many more issues. When one notes that the book receives a refresh each year, I think even the most assuming English major can overlook a few mistakes here and there. That said, I really enjoy this book because it is relevant and comprehensive. I love the fact that I am reading about ecommerce in light of some of the most recent and significant events peppered with some of the interesting and insightful history that led the industry to its current position. Sure, some of the information you and I already know, but I am still approaching this read with an open mind and, as a result, I've learned quite a bit so far. A plus is that the case studies and articles discuss relevant issues that the industry and its current giants face presently. That said, I am dedicated to reading it cover to cover and I am keeping the book on my bookshelf for a long time. One reason I don't mind that this book isn't on my Kindle is that I can only imagine my 3 and 4 year old boys reading through it in 15 years or so only to ridicule a few of the technologies that to them will seem ridiculous or antiquated. Can't wait to field the question..."Dad, what was Facebook?". :)

Not sure if the content really caters to the new age on this subject. the concepts and tech may be a little obsolete. Some universities continue to ask students to refer to this book as the ultimate guide for the subject.
