Book Description

E-Commerce and V-Business examines the impact of the Internet and associated technologies on two related aspects of business: electronic commerce and virtual organisation.

Using a combination of recent theory and empirical evidence it demonstrates how forward thinking organisations are reaping considerable strategic advantage from exciting new business models in these areas. Such models require radical rethinking of many aspects of traditional business. The book covers many of the critical and contemporary issues stemming from these important new developments.

One of the first texts to explicitly recognize the converging aspects of electronic commerce and virtual organisation
An up-to-date, leading academic text involving an international team of experts
Packed with recent case studies illustrating how electronic commerce and virtual business have created significant strategic benefits

Editorial Reviews

Review

This focus on current issues relating to e-commerce & virtual business is a refreshing change from previous business publications discussing e-commerce, which focus on technology........ The papers challenge traditional thinking & rewrite business models to herald a new & exciting area of development that unites technology & business. This book has a well defined structure & the areas discussed are clearly segregated. It is divided into two sections. This is an interesting book, with case studies on organisations which vary in size, business & location. I would recommend the book to academics, and it is also of interest to practitioners, although it does not provide methods for implementing or capturing success.
Katie Walsh, Computer Bulleting

A rich source of research and theory surrounding e-commerce and v-business, making the book a useful tool for students studying these aspects of business.

Many of the books i have read simply don't come up to scratch. This book is different. It provides a solid basis for understanding using theory and examples from some excellent universities. For me, some of the chapters helped to unravel issues of current practice.

This one's great. It provides a fresh look at e-commerce & how businesses organize their virtual operations. It goes beyond the hype of guru texts & looks at real examples & frameworks to help understand them.

This one's great. It provides a fresh look at e-commerce and how businesses organize their virtual operations. It goes beyond the hype of guru texts and looks at real examples and frameworks to help understand them. Whilst I haven't really heard of some of these examples, others are well known - like KLM. It has academic depth, if that's what you want, and contributions from some famous and less well known professors.
