Would not recommend,

This is a great idea--in theory. However, the pole receptor that attaches to the base is not done so in a secure manner. It wiggles and seems a bit unsteady. Too, the base, even when full of sand, is not heavy enough to securely hold a nine foot umbrella. Again--part of the problem is the manner in which the pole receptor fits into the compartment that holds the sand. I suspect that had this unit been manufactured as a single piece rather than two elements attached together, the problems I encountered with this product would be greatly minimized.

this umbrella stand is good not great. the price and quality is great, the task of placeing sand inside it is not..w/out a funnel this would be impossible. the opening is approx 2" so it is a bit tedious.
