Dog Fashion Disco - Commited to a Bright Future,
By Keith (Minneapolis, MN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Committed to a Bright Future (Audio CD)
Commited is the next best thing to sliced bread. The follow up to the debut "Anarchist's of Good Taste," is more groundbreaking circus metal. The 12 track album contains an amazing array of style. Ranging from new versions of such disco-like classics as "Pogo the Clown" to the very heavy "Love Song for a Witch", & "The Acid Memoirs." There has been no band to ever come close the style which Dog Fashion Disco presents. Buy this album and you won't regret, you'll have a new favorite band.

Dog Fasion Disco...well what can i say about this album. Other than this is a great cd. Great songs all around, and much better effort than their previous cd. Do yourself a favor and get this cd.

Great Album,

This cd is awesome. It's range in sound from metal to jazz to funk to circus-rock makes your head spin. The vocals are done beautifully, covering screams, singing beautifully, and singing in a completely weird fashion. The lyrics, the music, the keyboards, all create the feel of Dog Fashion Disco. And one last thing.....the best place for a hidden track i've ever come across. If you haven't found out by now, their cover of Grease is before track 1, you have to rewind the cd as soon as you start it. Genious.

Best cd of the year...without a doubt!,

If you think there's nothing new or interesting that can be done in the world of heavy music, listen to this CD and let Dog Fashion Disco kick the [crud] out of that notion. This CD is nothing short of ground-breaking. After listening to "Committed to a Bright Future," I'm taken back to the days of first discovering bands like Faith No More and Tool. Dog Fashion Disco is the next band that everyone and their mom will be trying to copy.

It's become an unfortunate cliché to say that a band has evolved from their last album, or is here to revolutionize the rock and roll scene...thing is, sometimes it's true.Doing it almost accidentally (simply by sticking to their guns and doing THEIR thing), Dog Fashion Disco has found a path in which they can not only play their agressive (albeit humorous) brand of music, but also have room to grow artistically. "Committed to a Bright Future" utilizes the key elements of the bands original sounds, without dwelling on any one style or concept long enough to ruin it for the listener. The most interesting thing though, is the band has somehow keyed in on what will please their longtime hardcore fan base, as well as win over people who've always felt a little removed (like myself). Did that last Korn record dissapoint you 'cause too much of it sounded like what you've already heard? (...) That wait for the next System of a Down seem like forever? All signs point to checking out DFD's newest CD, "Committed to a Bright Future." Here they are, I'm sure proud to now have an audience which they can share some of their most interesting ideas yet.

Dog Fashion Disco has really outdone themselves on this record. I mean Anarchists of Good Taste was really good, but this just shows their growth as a band. I will give you a run down of all the tracks:1. Love Song for a Witch 2. Rapist Eyes 3. Dr. Piranha 4. Fetus on the Beat 5. Worm in a Dog's Heart 6. Plastic Surgeons 7. Pogo the Clown 8. Castaway 9. Nude in the Wilderness 10. The Acid Memoirs 11. Deja Vu 12. Magical Band of Fools That's it...unless you can find the two hidden tracks..hehe...

Amazing,

This is one of the best bands I've EVER come across- and I've come across a lot of bands... the incredible musicianship combined with powerful and sometimes haunting vocals is a recipe for success. My favorite tracks are Pogo the Clown and The Acid Memoirs, which is not to say that the others aren't any good- far from it... One funny thing I noticed is that earlier reviewers have said that their cover of Grease is before the first track, whereas mine is after the last one...

Committed to intelligent music,

If you have never heard Dog Fashion Disco before, check them out ASAP. I first heard them on the Metal channel on Digital Cable, ordered their cd "Anarchists of Good Taste", and saw them countless number of times live (even got drunk with them). Committed to a Bright Future is easily on of the best albums I have ever listened to in my life. The diversity on the album is unbelievable. Songs range from metal to hardcore to jazz to acid rock. The album is just amazing. The lyrics may sound absurd to the casual listener, but they fit perfectly into the overall tone of the album. Don't pass this one up, it will definitely brighten up your life and the future of music.

Let me just say this album is so creative its scary.I had never heard of these guys until i visited the Spitfire Record Label site...and heard a stream of The Acid Memoir's..which became one of those songs i heard in my head 24-7 and couldnt shake out. That said this album rocks in a very Intelligent Manner...strange haunting guitar sounds..banjo's...saxaphones..piano's..little green men..you name it its here. This album may seem bizarre at first but will be even stranger the second time around...definately a one of a kind album.

A Huge Step Forward for DFD,

This album is to Dog Fashion Disco's career what Far Beyond Driven was to Pantera's or what Reign In Blood was to Slayer's: The work of a band that has hit their stride and efforlessly and confidently write one great song after another. Don't cheat yourself, pick this up...
