Ehmagawd!,
By Green Marker Girl "Bernadette" (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Pretty Committee Strikes Back (The Clique, No. 5) (Paperback)
When Mr. Myner, the too-good-looking geography teacher at OCD announces a three day trip to the middle of no where, Massie is mildly excited. There's only one thing that catches her attention- the Briarwood boys are coming too! Massie decides this is her chance to impress Derrington- and have her first kiss. So as to be sure the other girls don't think she's not experienced, she starts MUCK (Massie's Undergound Club for Kissing). Three LBR's, Alexandra, Livvy, and Carrie, join the group, along with Layne and the rest of the Pretty Comitee. Honestly, Massie has no idea how to kiss, and puts it off as long as possible. When they get to the mountains, Dylan's mom starts "hanging out" with Mr. Myner. It creeps all the girls out, but not as much as the fact that Mr. Myner has confiscated all of their electronics and most of the wardrobes.Claie is still on the outs with Cam, after he caught her kissing Josh, Alicia's crush. She goes to desperate measures to win him back, and succeeds- but later, catches him about to kiss Alicia. She'd found out about the kiss between Josh and Claire, and was mad. Meanwhile, Massie gets her first kiss with Derrington- in an unexpected way. But when the girls walk in on Dylans mom kissing Mr. Myner the gates break - and it all comes out. A shocking end leaves the reader yearning for the next book. This is a great book-one of the best, that keeps Clique fans waiting for more!

first of all, amazon.com has made a mistake - their description of the pretty committee strikes back is actually the description of the fourth novel, invasion of the boy-snatchers.i thought i'd better write a review after seeing all the useless reviews the other people wrote. the pretty committee - massie, alicia, dylan, kristen, and ugh - Claire (my least favorite character) is heading to Lake Placid for a three-day school trip to learn how to survive in the wild - not that they actually care about it, what they are focused on it spending the three days with their crushes from Briarwood Academy. However, there are some major uh-ohs - Ms. Marvil, Dylan's celebrity mom, is going with them - and she's hot for their handsome geography teacher! - kristen's parents refuse to pay the 1,500 dollar pricetag for the trip - claire is desperate to win back Cam, who stumbled upon her kissing Josh Hotz in the last novel. it doesnt help that Josh continues to flirt with her in front of Cam. - Alicia has a major crush on Josh, and is determined to crush the girl he likes, whoever that may be. - Massie has started a MUCK club (Massie's Underground Clinic for Kissing) in the hopes of winning back her status after Alicia's notorious cousin Nina destroyed it in the previous book. the problem is, Massie is teaching the girls to kiss. but she's never actually kissed herself. she spends time dodging questions about her kissing relationship with derrington and derrington himself, whenever he wants a kiss. when will she and derrington finally do it? funny, and a good light read, the pretty committee strikes back is an pleasant time.

Ah-Mazing Romance and Misunderstanding in Lake Placid,
By Molly Sinclair "aquababe" (California BABY!!) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Pretty Committee Strikes Back (The Clique, No. 5) (Paperback)
This Book is ah-mazing!!!I bought this book today and i finished this book today also. Thats how great it is!!! it takes place in a really upscale camp in Lake Placid where the 7th grade girls of OCD and the 7th grade boys of Briarwood good to spend presidents day weekend. They spend a week there overall.Claire is totally distraught over her messed up relationship with Cam. But there are a lot of bumps in this road as Claire discovers an enemy wihtin the Pretty Comittee. Massie is determined to beat Nina in terms of "experience" so she creates M.assie's U.nderground C.linic for K.issing or MUCK. She also plans to take it to the next level with Derrington. Dylan has a slim new bod and a very embarrassing mom. Kristen doesn't have enough money to go on the trip and is forced to stay in westchester, or is she?? And Alicia is obsessing over Josh Hotz, her new crush, but who is he drooling over? And all of this funnels to the end of the book, the climax. This climax is so dramatic and unexpected and i am so excited to see what is going to happen to the pretty commitee in Dial L for Loser, which is scheduled to come out in August (can i wait that long). I realy liked how Claire gained confidence in this book but Massie was really selfish in parts, which is kind of typical. I love reading these kind of books because they are really light and airy in a way. Also, i love reading these books because i can take a break from the serious and sad books that are assigned in literature class. And, love reading about all the designer clothes!!

This review is from: The Pretty Committee Strikes Back (The Clique, No. 5) (Paperback)
In The Pretty Committee Strikes Back, by Lisi Harrison, the OCD girls go on a camping trip for geography class, with the Briarwood boys! Massie Block, the Pretty Committee alpha, has to kiss Derrington, the soccer team's star goalie. Kristen gets left behind because she can't pay the fee, or does she. Dylan's famous mother, Merri-Lee- famous morning show hostess on the Daily Grind, goes on trip with her camera crew for a special episode on "Mother-daughter bonding". To bad the didn't catch the moments of her and Dylan's Geo teacher cuddling. Alicia is to busy trying to figure out who her crush Josh likes. If she knew he kissed Claire during the big game she could stop and enjoy the beautiful wilderness. Claire is really worried. Trying to get Cam back and trying to ignore Josh and kissing up to Alicia. She's also trying to be a good girl to the Massie, Kristen, Dylan, and Alicia since she is finally in the Pretty Committee. It's just to bad they can't see the Briarwood boys and the Ocd girls since they ran away on a danger trail. To find out all the exclusive details read this book and the rest of the Clique series. The girls who were Prada, and a whole bunch of other designer names you didn't even know existed, will make you want to read more and more. The shopping, cute boys, and the major drama will make you enter your mind and feel like your arguing and flirting with the boys right there next to them. You should only read these books if you are 12 and up- fictional. I liked this book because it is very exciting because you never know what is going to happen next. Also because the drama is always about something else, but I don't like drama like that and especially not being in it but reading about it isn't that bad because it's not real and not hurting anyone. It's also like my life except me and my friends aren't snobby like that, rich, and we go to a coed school.

The Pretty Committee Strikes Back is ah-mazing!,
This review is from: The Pretty Committee Strikes Back (The Clique, No. 5) (Paperback)
The Pretty Committee Strikes Back by Lisi Harrison was a five star quality book by far! This was the 5th, and most recent, book of the Clique series. These books base around 5 popular girls who try very hard to keep up their reputation and will do anything to stay in the clique. The author Lisi Harrison has a great background of creating and developing MTV shows. This book was a mixture of all genres. There was a lot of romance, adventure, and mystery. This book does not have that much of a moral to the story but they are really fun to read and I read it in 3 days! The Pretty Committee Strikes Back had a good overall writing style, it was funny, sad, and made you feel like you knew the main characters. One of the main characters, Massie, always uses funny comebacks such as "Did I invite you to my barbeque? Then why are you all up in my grill?" I overall thought that this book was "ah-mazing"(like they say in the book). I would suggest it to anyone who likes teen novels that make you laugh, cry, and have your spine stiffen from thrill.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Pretty Committee Strikes Back (The Clique, No. 5) (Paperback)
I've been obsesed with the clique ever since i read the first book when i was in 5th grade. (now 7th)basically, its about 4 girls.. massie, dylan, alicia, kristen and claire. I can totally picture these girls... massie being insecure inside but looking totally confident on the outside... alicia being pretty and everyone else being jealous of her.. dylan thinking shes fat even though shes really skinny.. being a follower in a way kristen being a little more of a tom-boy and a little more like claire than the rest of the group claire being really nice.. not rich.. and showing the traits that most people do need to show (insecurity). book- Octavian country day is ready to pack their bags to go to lake placid. Many adventures happen on the way.. like claire kisses josh hotz because she thinks her boyfriend cam doesnt like her anymore.. (read the previous book [revenge of the boy snatchers] to know more about that.. i cant tell you the rest.. u need to read the book.. i LOVED the ending... i like wanted to read the next book right away... i suggest getting both books at the same time because your gona wana read the next one asap. hope you like itt..

The Pretty Commitee Strikes Back,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Pretty Committee Strikes Back (The Clique, No. 5) (Paperback)
Massie,Alicia,Dylan,Kristen, & Claire. The Pretty Commitee. The most popular & prettiest girls at Octavion County Day School. They rule the school, turn heads, & always have something to say. This is my favorite book because of the non-stop drama. This book will NEVER have you bored at any point of all chapters. Everyword is mouth watering & will have you jumping out of your seats & screaming for more. Each charater of this book has a description that keeps you interested. Its probably the way the auther writes each Clique book. I have read all 5 series and in mt opinion this one is the best. They go camping & MNassie the mnost popular character really wants the opportunity to kiss Derrington (her crush). So she is being tought bt Clair how to kiss while in the woods everyday. This book is a romantical & hilarious novel. Lateley I have been waiting for time to fly by so the newest Clique book to comeout. Also at the end of every novel they are all to be continued books that keep you interested.

The Pretty Committee Strikes Back,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Pretty Committee Strikes Back (The Clique, No. 5) (Paperback)
When orienteering, hiking, and topography turns into kissing, fighting, and 5 girls lost in the woods, one can only wonder. I loved this book and the four books before it, but I thought it was a little too mature for fourth graders, which is the reading level. I just don't think they would really understand the things the girls talk about in the story. I loved it a lot though, and the only thing that I would question is the reading level. It's cool though because it's about things that really go on in middle school, like gossip and a great friendship.

The Pretty Committee Strikes Back,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Pretty Committee Strikes Back (The Clique, No. 5) (Paperback)
"...Massie took one look around. It was the last time she'd ever see these faces again." The fifth book in The Clique series, The Pretty Committee Strikes Back, takes the girls out of the city and into the wilderness as they venture into the woods on a school camping trip! Not only do they get to be away from their parents but they also get to be with the Briarwood boys who are only a few yards away. With all the excitement of the trip and having the boys their combined, the girls figure that they need to be prepared for anything so Massie starts M.U.C.K. (Massie's Underground Clinic for Kissing). Tension builds up when Massie is found to be a fake at kissing experience. But emotions run wild when Claire finds Alicia kissing her boyfriend as a way to get revenge for kissing her own crush. To add to the drama Dylan finds her famous talk show host mom kissing her geography teacher which causes her to run off into the woods mad, dragging the rest of The Pretty Committee along with her. Although they were specifically told not to venture off into the woods without adult supervision they continue to go deeper and deeper in. After an encounter with a grizzly bear the girls finally arrive back to camp grounds safely - only to find that they have been expelled from Octavian Country Day school! This book was probably one of the best out of the series because it leads you to think, Well what happens now that they have been expelled? Just like any great author would do, Lisi Harrison proposed questions for the readers to try to answer making them want to read the next book. I enjoyed reading this book because, as I just stated, it proposes questions that make you want to keep reading to find out the answer. But it also is like an overview of modern day teenage life. With all the drama and emotions running wild, teenage life can be hard but also good for life lessons, just like what the girls in the book experience. This book also had comedy in it and I love to laugh. For example the girls are always making up funny jokes and they sometimes act silly. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves fun and drama filled books. J. Moss |
