It's a good book describing briefly all commodities and some of the critical information needed to trade them. I am an Agricultural Producer and the areas that involve those commodities are very short in comparison to the other commodities and don't provide any real specific or detailed information.

I would recommend the book to any one interested in trading any commodity but ag commodities, because it is too brief on this subject.

Appreciate the author for writing such a great book for dummies like me on commodities.

Few pros:
1. Simple real life examples on call and put options (future contracts) helped me understand the concept in couple of hours. I was trying to understanding this concept for a week atleast.

2. Flow of the books is really good, you feel like not to leave the book in between.

3. Best to read from start to finish on multiple days with appropriate gaps in between. (If you are too busy !). A great book for week end study.

I bought this book at a used bookstore, and the first thing I'm going to do is sell it to Hastings and make about $5 on the trade. There's some good information in it, but the author lost any credibility he had in Chapter 24: 10 or So Resources You Can't Do Without. Number 3 on the list is a website called Commodities-Investor.com, which the author readily admits is his web site.

The problem is, the web site is nothing more than an under construction placeholder with a shameless plug for his book. Considering that the book was written 2 years ago and the web site was never finished, it probably never will be finished.

That the author would be a shameless shill for his work doesn't bother me. That he would be so arrogant as to assume that a worthless placeholder was one of the reader's 10 can't do without resources does.

Don't be a schmuck. There are easier ways to make money in commodities than to buy this book and sell it to Hastings for a $5 profit.
