1.0 out of 5 stars Great idea, horrible product.
If you're looking to spend money on this, don't. 4.0 out of 5 stars A Commodore hackers dream., March 8, 2006
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Commodore 64: 30 Games in One Joystick (Video Game)
The 30 in 1 sold thru Amazon is a real Commodore 64 computer on a single ship. The NTSC Version 1 board has 128KB RAM and a 2MB ROM. inside the case of the D2TV there are solder pads that will allow anyone who can solder to attach connectors for the IEC serial buss, a PS2 keyboard, and in some cases a second joystick, and some of the wires for the user port.

product identification

Version 1 comes in a pyramid shapped box, has 128KB RAM 2MB ROM
Version 2 comes in a hexagon shapped box, has 2MB RAM 2MB flash
Version 3 boards are in a game called "Hummer of road racing"

5.0 out of 5 stars C64 is Back and Better then EVER!, February 8, 2005
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Commodore 64: 30 Games in One Joystick (Video Game)
This Joystick ROCKS! It looks just like the old-school C64 Joystick and has 30 of the BEST games built right into it! The "30 Game" thing is really a lie - there are more like 50! There is the original Summer Games and Winter Games suites (almost 20 games right there) + Pit Stop, Pit Stop 2, Impossible Mission (one and two) and the classic fighting games like World Karate 1 and 2. The list of games goes on and on... I play it on my TV at home and also give it to the kids to play on the monitor in the car. There is even a shotcut that if you figure it out lets you program in basic:)

The 64 Joystick is a must for those of us who had and loved our Commodore 64s and also for the younger kids who just appreciate that it is so many games in one compact joystick. And, at less than $1 per game, how could you wrong? Just buy it!

Well, the list of games is below so I'm not going to go through it. Having a Commodore 64/128 as a child I played these games in their day. I have a console collection so I loved video games since I was a child. How many levels and full games you could fit in just 64K of memory and 350K disks back then.

Anyway, this collection has some of the most beloved games of that era, at least the ones they could license for use on it. The Epyx games were some of the best of their time, games like Impossible Mission are fun to solve and finish and they are not that easy to solve either. Jumpman, the International Karate and the Epyx games will test your reflexes and abilities to perform exact moves and joystick commands to get higher scores.

I have fun playing with this little piece of gaming history, games are not only about flashy graphics (though they make a difference) but how much fun you get from a game. When I was a kid, I used to dream of the days I could see graphics on games like the ones we see today.

These units can be hacked if you wish to take flash drives with more games, change the game list or even add joysticks and keyboards but that's something you will have to search for and know how to do. A few programmers and technicians who worked with Commodore computers back then found out how to do this and even provide instructions on how perform these modifications if you're skillful enough.

I really like this product and is part of my collection now, the games are not emulated as the C64 motherboard was reengineered and shrunk to the size of a small chip so you're playing the games with 100% reproduction accuracy, I wish I could give it the whole five stars but I'll give it four because the joystick could be a bit more responsive or perhaps like a user mentioned it could be that I have the first version and perhaps this was addressed on the new version.

Overall, a great fun product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ah the good old days, October 12, 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Commodore 64: 30 Games in One Joystick (Video Game)
Amazing how far computers have come since my old C64 was classified as a powerful machine graphically. I love the new stuff, but once in awhile its nice to backtrack to the good ol days of 64k memory and 5 1/4" disk drives. I agree with the review about the difficulty of the games, but its just once again a reminder of the changes in gaming with the times. My old C64 eventually burnt up with use, and its nice to see I'm not the only one to miss these game treasures included on this wonderful piece of equipment. Now, if only somebody would do this with an apple II....

If you're looking to spend money on this, don't. Having spent my teen years holed up in my bedroom on a Commodore 64 (and being the current fan that I am), I was really excited when I heard about this product. Unfortunately, it stinks. There are a couple of games on this contraption that are real gems, the rest being mediocre at best. The overall bad choice of games isn't my issue with this thing though. It's the CRUMMY JOYSTICK. Control is horrible. The stick is clunky and unresponsive and makes playing a real chore. As someone else pointed out in their review, often it doesn't even respond when pushed in a certain direction. I can't believe it's 2006 yet these companies releasing plug-n-play video game contraptions can't even make a decent joystick! A real letdown.

1.0 out of 5 stars Seller - C's Collectibles, October 31, 2010
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Commodore 64: 30 Games in One Joystick (Video Game)
The concept is good, but my beef is with the current seller online (as of 10/31/2010) who is listing the product for $1,000.00 U.S.!!! What a joke. Another example of a price-gouging seller on Amazon that is becoming all to common: they equate few or 1 seller as value. I am noting never to buy from this seller, or any others that aren't serious with regard to the price they list. BTW, download all the roms and an emulator online, and save yourself the $1000 price list, if anything, in principal alone.

4.0 out of 5 stars for mod'ers, new package, not version 2, July 7, 2006

This review is from: Commodore 64: 30 Games in One Joystick (Video Game)
This looked to be the new circuit board with flash ram and new modification options for the enthusiast. The package was certainly new, but the circuit board was the original version 1.

You'll need to go to great lengths to make sure you're getting a version 2, if it's possible at all. Good luck!

3.0 out of 5 stars Best of Commodore?, August 23, 2007
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Commodore 64: 30 Games in One Joystick (Video Game)
I bought this because I was a child of the 1980s and grew up in the dawn of computer gaming. I owned an Atari 800 as opposed to the C-64 but many of the era's games were cross platform. This plug and play had 2 games I wanted: Jumpman Junior and Summer Games. I must say that I enjoy both (But I think my Atari beat the C64 in sound and graphics) but was less than impressed with the rest of the games in the collection. One is a frisbee toss. That was a greatest hit? I think this does a disservice to the games of the era. I would have liked to have seen Miner 2049er, Archon, and the original Jumpman. I still feel I got my 20 bucks out of it.
