The English language has always been a challenge for her when we use terms like "I'm all ears."
K. Hedges

This has come in very handy for my partner from Eastern Europe as I naturally used idioms all the time. The English language has always been a challenge for her when we use terms like "I'm all ears." Even I was unaware there were so many to learn but it has now allowed my partner to comfortably understand many of the confusing phrases that had previously baffled her. I think it will also come in handy as a guide.

This is a great resource for our ESL tutors and students at the Literacy Council of Frederick County. We also use" the "99 Essential Business Idioms". Our first goal is teaching conversational English and this publication is full of everyday language phrases by native speakers. It is very valuable in our teaching.

“117 Most Common English Idioms and Phrasal Verbs” is very useful for learning what common English-language idioms and phrasal verbs mean. It is very simple to find the idiom you are wondering about, because the entries are all arranged in alphabetical order.

The guide provides the idiom, followed by its meaning. Then, 2 or 3 examples of the idiom’s usage are provided. The meanings and examples are all top-notch, and give an excellent overview of the idiom, its definition, and how it is typically used.

The only shortcoming to this guide is the lack of explanation of how certain idioms came to be. Many people learning English as an additional language are certainly interested in what the idioms mean and how they are used, but they also want to know why the idiom came into existence. This information would have really fleshed out each entry, rather than leaving the entries seem somewhat incomplete.

This book has a lot of idioms and phrases. It offered sentences to illustrate the idioms which is very helpful. As a former ESL teacher, I would have liked to have had this book while I was teaching. The only thing I would add to the book would be situational instructions on when these idioms are most appropriate. Some idioms may not be appropriate to use in a business setting for instance. Great book though.

It's very great book about how to use these words in many occasions.
I recommend it for students and teachers or everyone who is interested in American accent.
