Good reference for some fairly common western NA plant fossils. The photo plates are good quality, as are the drawings. All aspects of the ID are covered: leaves, bark, fruit, wood. There are magnified photos and drawings, as well as the normal views.

Like the previous reviewer, I find all of the line drawings to be of excellent quality. However the section of black-and-white photographic plates between pages 90 and 91 has quality so abysmal that it is ridiculous. They look as if they were poorly scanned from magnified black and white newsprint, and there is no detail visible - problematic given that these details are necessary to distinguish fossil plants! I am confused because the sole reviewer of this book on Amazon specifically noted the high quality of the plates. It is not possible that this reviewer is looking at the same pictures that I am, so we must have different printings. I recommend not buying this book from Amazon unless you can be assured of its quality.
