5.0 out of 5 stars Very moving, well-written, and very interesting style, December 11, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Common Threads: Stories of Life After Trauma (Hardcover)
The book follows two individuals, a girl and a boy, through first-person accounts of abuse and trauma, as well as poems, and beautiful photos and drawings. This is highly recommended because what could have been a downer of a book, turns out to be a most beautiful display of hope and understanding.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Fine Art of the Case Study., February 27, 2004
Especially when it comes to trauma, researchers often keep a comfortable distance by reporting numbers, such as symptom counts over time. Here, the authors attain a comfortable closeness, which allows us to feel for the people ... Not in the "thank got it ain't me fashion," but in a way that allows us to think of how "it is like me." A warm and empathetic engagement of human emotions.
