5.0 out of 5 stars Actually the best., May 13, 2003

This review is from: Commonwealth (Audio CD)
I got this album in the 6th grade. I'm graduating from high school now and I sill love this record. It's a shame that the rest of the earth won't hear this because one, it's old, and two, it's Christian. I don't like this record because it's Christian, which is more than I can say for most of these morons who can't broaden their horizons past Tooth and Nail records, (which is making a comeback now), but I love this record because he actually means what he's saying. If Scott was singing this emotionally about loving himself, I'd still listen to it. The music is incredible. If you're reading this though, you're probably listening to the new Jars of Clay record or something. Go listen to something good, (Sunny Day Real Estate, Blood Brothers).

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Plankeye Album Ever, August 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Commonwealth (Audio CD)
"Spill" is good, "The Spark" rocks, and the two new ones are excellent as well...but none compare to the soul-driven songs on "Commonwealth". Scott Siletta really delivers on this one, from the mellow "Push Me Down (Veiled)" to the hard-hitting "Placement" to the worshipful "Who Loves You More?". This CD is fantastic, and you won't regret buying this one. I promise.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great cd, January 15, 1999

I am a big fan of the Tooth&Nail label, and Plankeye's Commonwealth was no disapointment. The moody lyrics and hard beat are in a class of their own. This is one of Plankeye's best albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best College Rock CD EVER., December 9, 2001
This review is from: Commonwealth (Audio CD)
Out of all the albums I've ever listened to, this has been my favorite album for 5+ years going. As a guitar player this would be the kind of music I would aspire to play. This album is catchy, but not repetative, simple, but beautiful. The lyrics memoriable and meaningful. I love every song on this CD, absolutly no filler. This is plankeye, college rock, and christian music at its finest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sing your lungs out, August 28, 2011

This review is from: Commonwealth (Audio CD)
Plankeye's Commonwealth is a great album to sing your lungs out to. An engaging set of tunes combined with slick yet aggressive electric arrangements, this is a great album to have when you're alone driving down a highway and can sing as loud as you want. You'll even find yourself singing along with the guitar lines. Upon its release, the album was criticised for being too much of a departure in sound from their previous albums, a sound they returned to for their following album The One & Only. And while both The One & Only and The Spark are terrific albums, Commonwealth is the true gem and an album to adore.

Perhaps the album's strongest point is the yearning melodies. "Who Loves you more," "He," "Beautiful" and most notably "Push Me Down" are all gripping tracks which make you feel like your heart will burst. The other upbeat tracks, such as "Whisper to Me," lead single "B.C," "Placement" (make sure you catch the start of the second verse), "Struck by the Chord" and the title track, create a great balance throughout the album, taking you on a most invigorating ride.

The album has top production values and excellent talent to offer. There is not a dud song on here. I have nothing negative to say about the album. It's brilliantly executed, but I will just warn that Scott's voice may not be everyone's cup of tea. However, I am not in that camp.

Commonwealth is an album that rocks out in an intelligent way, and you won't quickly get sick of it. It only seems to grow on you until you can't help but sing along from start to finish.

Plankeye
one of the best christian bands ever, buy every album, you cant go wrong. A little more poppy than the spark or spill, but i think they were just keeping up with the times. Christian alternative/pop rock at its best

5.0 out of 5 stars What rock records should be, October 5, 2001
This review is from: Commonwealth (Audio CD)
In around 40 minutes, Plankeye made an awesome rock record. It's such an awesome rock record because it is just that, a straight up rock record. Plankeye doesn't fall easily into one subgenre or the other, they just flat rock, and by doing so actually have their own unique sound. Anyway, onto the songs... they're great. There's a fair mix of slower songs and catchy, energetic rockers. One amazing thing Plankeye does is put big rocking guitar solos in pop songs, something more bands should do. The lyrics are also great. Just get this album.
