A must read for anyone living with animals,
This review is from: Communication With All Life: Revelations of An Animal Communicator (Paperback)
Having taken a course from Joan Ranquet a few years ago, I bought this book as soon as it came out. I now have a 2nd copy so I can loan one out without letting go of my own, which I review frequently. The book is a refresher course for me and something new sinks in deeper each time I read it. The first chapter helped me with a problem I was having with my horse at the time I first read it. A later chapter explained a puzzling change in one of my livestock guardian dogs' behavior. Yet another helped me open up and see what my llamas were trying to "tell" me. Joan understands animal psychology and knows how to help the rest of us learn it. She does so with wit and compassion. Anyone who has any kind of animal friend needs to read this book.

This review is from: Communication With All Life: Revelations of An Animal Communicator (Paperback)
This is a pleasant book outlining the author's development as an animal communicator. The first half of the book details the author's journey and is filled with summaries of some of her cases. The second half purports to be a training section and contains techniques designed to facilitate animal communication.
The author has an agreeable style and is definitely an animal lover. Her communication skills seem to be as attributable to her practical knowledge of animals, ie., experience training, feeding, etc, as to her intuition or psychic ability. The anecdotes were not terribly detailed and I was left wondering about some of the stories. Just what did happen to Pony Boy, her orphaned and angry colt? I was more disappointed in the second half which was quite general. While a meditative state is generally conducive to intuitive experience more detail would have been appreciated. Her observations about animals mirroring the physical and mental state of their guardians was fascinating, but again, her story development and description were a bit spare. All in all, this is fine as a first effort. If you enjoy reading books about people who love animals and work at understanding and appreciating them, this book will provide you with an enjoyable read. If you are serious about developing your animal communication skills try books by Marta Williams and Amelia Kinkade.

It's simple. Joan makes the world a better place for animals by making their keepers better people. Light and deep, funny and serious, real and fanciful; those are the wonderful extremes found here. If you ever thought your thoughts created, this book will drive the point home. Joan is bridging the gap of understanding not just for us with our animals but for us with each other. Thank you, Joan.

I really enjoyed this book from so many aspects. The Author's story of how she became an animal communicator was very touching and since I have lost pets that were also "soul mate" animals, I could totally relate.
I felt like I got so much out of the chapters with the stories about the clients she's had and the issues they had to deal with, as I recognized myself or my pets as having very similar issues. Having 6 animals myself I was able to extract a ton of useable information that applies to one or all of my pets. It was very eye opening to see just how much of my "stuff" gets picked up and carried around by my pets. I learned how to determine whether an issue or a perceived health problem is mine or theirs, and some really simple suggestions on how to fix them. For example, I had a dog that would growl at children and I posted a list on our refrigerator showing the hierarchy in the household, humans first of course'. And let everyone in the household know that they had to think of this hierarchy as well and to let the dog know that behavior was unacceptable to all of us. Believe it or not it helped the dog to listen to the child as the leader and not feel he was above her. By the end of the week they were sleeping together. I also got a lot of valuable lessons to use on myself by realizing that I was not balanced or that I was not managing my stress well and it came out as strange or unwanted behavior in my animals, be it dog, cat or one of my horses. Now, I really try to tune into what is going on with me and take care of that and surprisingly it helps a lot. There is so much depth and breadth to the examples and stories, that I now use the book that I have read cover to cover twice, as a "how to guide" for issues I may have with my pets or my friends and family may be having with their pets. I learned something very important in Chapter 9 about the ethics of this profession and the importance of being "neutral", and "anchoring the good feelings". That helped me so much with a horse I have who had bad experiences with the farrier (person who trim horses feet and puts their shoes on) and because of this I would hope and fear that he may act up every time the farrier comes, and of course he did, and it was dangerous for the farrier, the horse and me. I had even been accidentally given a light concussion from him acting out. Now I try to anchor all the good feelings of good times I have had with him and the one or two times that he was just stellar for the farrier and to hold only those thoughts while he his shoes are being put on. I also noticed that when my farrier is clear minded and just assumes my horse will be good the energy is different and the horse is in fact good. So, in this case for safety reasons it has been great for all of us! And lastly I loved the part on overall wellness because I have made it a passion to study animal nutrition over the past 4 ½ years since I lost my beloved dog to renal failure. I also have become interested in some of the energy work that can be done on animals that the Author mentions in the last chapter. Overall this is an excellent read and a very helpful and informative "hand book"; it is well worth the money and then some. I have recommended it to friends and family and I give it as gifts to all the animal lovers I know. Can't wait for her next book!

Ms. Ranquet may be a great animal communictor, but she's also a really good writer. Her many stories about her work in the field are engaging and often humorous and read like the best kind of human interest stories. Whether you believe in this kind of communication with animals or not, this book gives you reason to consider the possiblities. In any case, I find myself looking at my own pets differently and feel like my relationship to animals in general has been expanded due to this books insights and guidance. It's Ranquets kind of 'thinking outside the box' that simply makes life on the planet more intriguing.

A new journey,
By Diane Pagel (Carnation, WA, US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Communication With All Life (Kindle Edition)
This book is a great read. If you are just wanting to know more information about Animal Communication, or maybe already practicing Animal Communication, then this is the book for you. Joan is not preachy but writes straight from her heart. You feel at ease, as if you are sitting on her couch, talking to her and having a cup of tea.
I got this book and planned to read it in sections. Instead, I stayed up most of one night, reading it from front cover to back cover. I put it down, felt as if I had a new chapter of my life was ready to be written, and I just had to write the words. The first half of the book is about Joan's journey. She didn't know she would be an Animal Communicator but realized it would her destiny. You read about her struggles with her animals, cry with her in her sorrow and realize that her journey and your journey are the same. We all have the ability to be an Animal Communicator but need to take that first step. In the second half, she helps you take that first step. She guides you and makes you feel like you can do it. She shares techniques so you can start to communicate with your animals. You feel like she holds you hands during this journey. Joan takes the stance that you can talk to your animals and from that help them, whether it be have you go to the Vet, changing the saddle or the dynamics in the households. Often the issues with the animals are how we communicate with them. Joan offers ways to resolve this. She gives you tool and techniques to start communicating. It is broken down in small steps so it isn't formidable anymore. Soon the puzzle is not a puzzle but a completed piece. She puts in story and most of them are very familiar, meaning we have a lot of the same issues. Suddenly it is clear that these issues can be solved by trusting your instinct, opening up to talk to them and soon you feel like you made a major breakthrough. You did, indeed! The last part of the book deals with nutrition and a holistic approach. You deal not only with the mind but the physical part and that makes the whole package. By dealing with both sides, you are now armed to go into new territory and enjoy your new life with your animals. A well written book that will set you upon a new journey.

Very well written. She gave her experiences, which was a pleasure to read, as well as a how to book. From following the guidelines in this book, I actually heard my cat's voice. I then realized animal communication is very real.

As a licensed Veterinary Technician I have watched clients knowing and unknowingly communicate with their animals. Joan has put into layman's terms the art of communication. She has shown with great clarity the humor, grace and strength of the human animal bond. It was a pleasure to read this book from start to finish. It is the perfect gift for any animal lover.
