Editorial Reviews

Although attaining underground notoriety and rave reviews for their debut album, Cipher System is not a household name within the sphere of melodic death metal - not yet. What started as a first shot at their very own take on progressive melodic death, lethally infused with electronics, has now grown into relentless, remorseless mechanical perfection on Communicate the Storms. Cipher System was formed as Eternal Grief in 1996, at a time when the famed Gothenburg sound was at its peak, with the young band rising from the fertile ground of the classics of its time. Fifteen years after the birth of the band, Cipher System return with what has to be described as a masterpiece in a genre where innovation has become sparse, putting their murderous machinations on public display, forged with fearsome skill and precision - Communicate the Storms. With incredible artwork and a mix once again stemming from the hallowed grounds of Studio Fredman, this colossus of an album is sure to send tremors throughout the scene!

5.0 out of 5 stars For Lovers of Trivium Ascendency, Disarmonia Mundi, Solution .45, etc, October 14, 2011

This has gone into rotation of one of my favorite albums. If you liked Trivium's Ascendancy album, any Disarmonia Mundi, Solution 45 and its likes, you will enjoy this album. Awesome workout and place it in when I need to get pumped! Great job on the album!

5.0 out of 5 stars blarrrr..., February 13, 2012
This review is from: Communicate the Storms (Audio CD)
...these two dopes ^ with the other reviews dont know what the hell theyre even talking about. Vocalist does NOT sound like phil anselmo. and the new album does NOT sound like anything trivium has done. Cipher system is its own brand of swedish melo/death metal and the new album is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just listening to this burns calories, February 17, 2012
This review is from: Communicate the Storms (Audio CD)
This is just good hard tunes. It will get you pumped, so try not to listen to it at work or your overbearing boss might catch a right hook. I took this album on my morning run without having heard it and for the love of all that is holy, I probably ran 3 miles in 10 minutes. You can distinguish with clarity the guitar, bass, and chest thumping drum work from the vocals. Very well mixed, and well executed album. If you're not in to triumphant yelling vocals, or screaming destruction then I would still recommend this album based on instrumentals alone. The guitar is non-muddied beefy toughness at all times, with heaps of battle worthy crunching gallops. The bass is subtle, yet powerful. I think the game ball goes to the drummer, who does what can only be called WORK on this album.

Buy this. Melt face. Love life.
