5.0 out of 5 stars Great relationship aid for anyone!
This is a great help to improve communication between fathers and daughters, mothers and sons, husbands and wifes, friend and friend. Anyone can benefit from the thoughtful questions that generate conversation, understanding, and communication. What a great help this has been to me to provoke thoughtful questions that I would never have thought to ask on my own. I learned...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
The game comes in a nice tin (although the one I received was dented) but the game isn't quite as described. I thought it would be a play-anytime/anywhere game for hubby and the kids to use as a tool to get to know each others interests daughters and dads generally don't discuss, but when they read the instructions, it tells them to only use it at a restaurant. Anyone can benefit from the thoughtful questions that generate conversation, understanding, and communication. What a great help this has been to me to provoke thoughtful questions that I would never have thought to ask on my own. I learned so much about different family members and friends, when I thought I already knew everything there was to know about them!
Anyone and everyone can benefit from this game to gain an greater understanding of others in their lives, as well as of themselves.

It wasn't that long ago that my husband and daughters seemed to have nothing in common to talk about. It's amazing how such a fun and simple game like this can make such a difference in their relationship!

We used this game as an activity for a Dad / Daughter Campout weekend. Communication between dads and daughters is very important and this is a great way to kickstart the sharing. There were many dads interested in the intended use of the game to be used between them and their girl(s) to initiate date nights and good communication between them.

Great game full of insightful questions that 'connect' the dad and daughter. Different than regular question/answer games because both of us have to think of a place that starts with the corresponding letter, which we do a day or so in advance. This way, we have a 'date' and we're both thinking about it beforehand.
The most important part of it, at least for me, is that I learn things that interest her so that I can plan other activities. I also very much like the keepsake journal.
I would say that it's definitely worth it to get this game.

This was the best $29 I ever spent on my daughter.

I say that because...this game helped me learn so much about my daughter, and myself. Actually, we found that this game is very unique in the way it is designed. And, because of that uniqueness, we found it was very effective in helping us communicate (and its fun to play.)

The packaging says its a "game", but there's actually no game board, no dice, no hour glass full of sand, and no chutes and ladders to slide down, or Boardwalk to buy. Instead, it's quite simply 26 different packs of cards that have thought provoking open-ended statements that make it very easy to start, and maintain, a conversation about literally hundreds of different relevant topics.

One of the most intriguing things we found about this game was one of it's rules which says, "when the other person is reading their card, you cannot say ANYTHING until after that person has read and answered their card AND given the reason why they gave the answer they did." At first I found this rule was very hard to live with because I wanted to tell my daughter what her answer SHOULD be. However, when I actually started following the rule, I was totally surprised by the answers she gave! In fact, once she realized I wasn't going to keep interrupting her (like I usually do) she started opening up to me even more.

My daughter and I both recommend this game as a fun way to get to know each other better. I can see why this game won so many awards.

Creative product to get you way beyond 'how was school? your day?' The makers have done a lot of the brain work, you just follow the cards and gets you to the heart of the matter. Combining it with an evening out, 1:1 time, and done in the name of "playing a game" it's very clever in helping build our most most valuable investment: relationships. Also comes in a nice metal box to help keep things organized. They've also listed optional scenarios for those living in smaller communities. Highly recommended!

You get cards from A to Z, have to choose a local restaurant beginning with that letter (start with A, next time B, etc.) and - at the restaurant - use this game. (Try finding 26 local sit-down restaurants, especially finding places beginning with J, Q, or Z, and bringing a game with you.) Plus my kids felt the questions were stupid. I'll check the cards and update this if I disagree with their assessment.

One negative thing about this game is that if you play the game once a month (as the game suggests) it will take over two years to play all of the game cards.

Otherwise, as a dad who's not very good at communicating with his daughter, I needed help. Because of the creative way this game is designed, it makes it much easier for me to talk with my teenage daughter.

Thanks to this simple game, my daughter no longer screams at me any more. That's really amazing when you consider that family counseling couldn't make that happen!

My teenage daughter and I recommend this game if you're trying to salvage your relationship. We learned that it's never too late to communicate.
