Hi, this book does a great update from secrets of magic. it makes the concepts and principles more easier to understand for those not already familiar with NLP. i think that understanding the meta-model is a must for any therapist as it helps one to be aware of how language affect a person's mind-body. do you know how you express yourself verbally affect others on a deep level? you may even harm someone without knowing how your words affect yourself and others. this book will allow you to understand and be more aware of the impact words have in your life as well as others. wonder why you aren't reaching your goals? maybe it's because of your languaging that limits you. this is just another cool book to have from michael. especially those working in the service field.

I loved this book and lent it to many of my friends. You certainly need to have your brain on while you read this one. It isn't a light read. However, if you keep focused you will extract lot's of useful information about how to communicate better.

Not magical - barely readable,

Secrets? Those that are discussed here remain so - being so poorly explained. Magic? That's a bunch of hype. This may be worthy your purchasing just to show yourself that not all that's titled "Communication" can communicate. The publisher claimed this was a "clear an logical explanation" hah! This book has the feel of one of those self-published items that gets no editing. Feel free to get a copy and check it out yourself - just be sure to keep your receipt. I keep hoping to find a well-written book on NLP (one that says more than "for the real scoop on the techniques, be sure to 'attend a seminar by a certified trainer' because these techniques are SSSOOO powerful they might be dangerous.") Does your Bee eSS detector go off in response to that too?

You would surely expect a book about communication to be well written. However, this one isn't! It's a real struggle to get through it. However, if you persist, it does contain some worthwhile information on NLP and General Semantics.
The quote on the front of the book, "I stand in awe of the genius of L. Michael Hall" is just bizarre.

A useful and understandable exploration of NLP...,

... with interesting links to Korzybski's "General Semantics", I see it really enhancing my language skills.
