Good overview of basics, fine for beginners, April 15, 2010
This review is from: Communication Strategies to Enhance Professionalism (Misc.)
Ms. Geithner presents a broad introducation to the process of communication, barriers, and practical tips. I recommend it mainly to anyone who wants to *begin* learning these specific points and skills for public speaking and group process.
Experienced effective presenters will find little or no new content. Still I appreciated this as a good review, *especially* in its conciseness (31 minutes).
Her own presentation certainly demonstrates basic professional competency. She presents her content adequately though not particularly dynamically; production is almost all head and upper-body shots interspersed with standard bullet-point slides (the bane of far too many presentations). So if you'd like a good overview of these fundamentals, spend a half-hour with this program, and then -- to prevent death by digital bullet-point -- study at least two or three top-drawer resources on effective, dynamic design and structure for Keynote/PowerPoint.
