Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Live out your fantasies of parading about like everybody's favorite yellow-suited detective with this pair of WristLinx X3X 2-way radios from XACT Communication--one for you, one for a friend. Stylish and versatile, the wristwatch-like X3X houses both a digital clock and a 22-channel FRS/GMRS 2-way walkie-talkie with a 1.5-mile range.

Voice activation is ideal for hands-free communication--just speak into the microphone and the X3X will beam your words directly to any other FRS walkie-talkie user in range. Want a little more privacy? Use the supplied earbud headset with boom microphone. The unit's backlit LCD is clear and easy to read, showing time, use mode, signal strength, and battery strength.

The radio runs on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery (included), which charges when the unit is plugged into its AC/DC power adapter. Running time on a single charge is about 2 hours. Other features include channel scan, call alert, and an electronic volume control. The radio has a 300mW TX power output and 5.2 MHz bandwidth.

What's in the Box
2 WristLinx 2-way radios, 2 XB10 rechargeable batteries, 2 battery-charging AC power adapters (XA10), 2 earbud headsets with microphones (XH10), and a user's manual.

Note: The FCC requires self-licensing for use of GMRS channels 15 to 22.

3.0 out of 5 stars A neat "toy," but still needs a bit more to be truly useful!, September 22, 2004
This review is from: XACT Communications WristLinx X3X 1.5-Mile 22-Channel Wristwatch (Pair) (Electronics)
These were on sale a while back, so I bought a pair.

Since they include GMRS, I made the stupid assumption that they also had sub channels... wrong!

Also, the VOX feature (voice activated transmit)... takes about 5 or 6 seconds to actually engage. This boils down to the fact that you need to start making noise 5 or 6 seconds before you say anything that will be heard on the other end.

The sport club that I belong to, makes heavy use of the sub channels (there are so many people using FRS type radios now... you REALLY shouldn't bother buying anything that doesn't have sub channels).

From the reviews I've read, these guys have come a LONG way from their early models. However, without the sub channels, and with such a delay in the VOX feature... it's a neat "toy," but they still have a bit more to go before they become truly useful.

1.0 out of 5 stars Spk Failure - Mic jack - Charger Issue poor quality control, October 7, 2004
By
Brian (Warwick, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: XACT Communications WristLinx X3X 1.5-Mile 22-Channel Wristwatch (Pair) (Electronics)
SPEAKER FAILURES: Turns out the speaker - mic - charger jack is defective on many of these units. After a few charger plug insertions the contact that cuts out the speaker when using a headset fails to make a good connection when the charger plug is removed. Appears to be a class manufacturing problem... Jack contacts are accesible from battery compartment. Press a fine sewing needle point into the small loop contact (use magnifying glass)to make the loop buldge a little more and make a better connection with the other contact. The speaker will then start working again. Problem solved
