This review is from: The Communicative Value of Intonation in English (Applied Linguistics Non) (Paperback)
This book presents intonation as a system of conveying meaning. The system is based on a system that depends on the interaction between tone and pitch. There are quite a few interesting ideas presented in this book, but the writing style will make you pay dearly for them. The author uses quite a lot of jargon and doesn't feel any reluctance to make up his own. This makes this book a difficult read. If you're dong research on intonation, though, you might find it worth the effort to wade through it. Just don't buy this for pleasure reading.
