AlphaBasiCs is just what it appears to be. . . a series of alphabet books based on those subjects which interest young children. Such books encourage kids to let their imaginations soar. . . and to design their own alphabet books -- Brandon Sun, Dec. 28, 1997

Real life people grace the pages of this realistic A-Z book. All kinds of people are represented for the important jobs they do. A definite plus! -- Faith Loabe, Margaret Chase Smith School, Skowhegan, ME --This text refers to the Library Binding edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Careers' Book!, May 18, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Community Helpers from A to Z (Alphabasics) (Paperback)
Community Helpers is an extremely reasonably priced book that is packed with interesting information about many careers. The photographs of workers, enhance the details given about each occupation. As a teacher I was pleased to read the clear descriptions of so many jobs packed into one book! I recommend this book for all children thinking about their future and for the adults that are helping them to do this.

5.0 out of 5 stars community helpers A-Z book, August 4, 2008

This review is from: Community Helpers from A to Z (Alphabasics) (Paperback)
Book is great resource for introduction to community helpers and Alphabet.
If using with preschoolers, make the book work as a themed resource. Introducing a few letters weekly with corresponding activities in your centers to go along with community occupations is great. Especially role playing. The pictures are of real people doing real jobs and performing real services in the community. !!The possibilities for use of this book is endless". Good book overall. Gives enough information about each occupation and great to envoke further research on individual occupations for older students.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great representation of the Community, August 21, 2011

This review is from: Community Helpers from A to Z (Alphabasics) (Paperback)
This book is great for K-3. You could expand the curriculum for older children easily. The book uses the alphabet to teach children about community helpers. Each letter is for a different community helper, and the letter Y stands for You! This book draws the reader in and creates an environment where they can better understand every person in their community. This understanding translates to respect for everyone and the knowledge that every helper is indispensable.
