THE BEST EVER,

These are the BEST SPD sandals ever made. I have owned them all: Lake, Shimano and Nashbar. These cover your toes better. Comfortable. Seem well made. The cleat cover bolts on so no more chopping off fingers with the box cutter. Also the cleat is pretty well recessed so you don't clack. Buy them now they will improve your bike life.

Didn't fit my feet at all.,

These shoes look great. I have a pair of Keen's and they are all that I wear for 6 months out of the year. I expected these shoes to be great, but they didn't fit at all. They run extremely narrow -- my heel stuck out the back of the shoe, and my toes didn't reach anywhere near the front of it. I have narrow feet, so i didn't expect this problem at all. I tried going a size down, but they felt awful. It's too bad that they don't come in multiple widths. Don't be surprised if you buy a pair of these shoes and have to return them because they don't fit.

I own these and love them. They are a fantastic biking sandal. They offer great toe protection and are stiff enough to bike, but comfortable enough to walk. You barely notice that they are multi-purpose.
A note to T. Lahr...a simple solution to your problem is to tuck the cord into itself. Since this is displayed in every picture of the shoe, it was likely the intended design.

Very good. Have only used it for spin class and haven't been outside yet (it's winter). It seems narrow but isn't a problem while spinning. Like it.

Awesome shoe for those who have worn cycling shoes,
This review is from: Commuter Shoe - Men's by Keen (Apparel)
I bought these shoes and they fit great! I was concerned that they would be too narrow based off of other reviews, but they are only narrow compared to regular Keen sandals (I have those too). They are just as narrow as regular cycling shoes which is necessary if you plan on clipping into your pedals. If you don't use clip-in style pedals, than don't buy this sandal, use the regular Keen sandals.
I normally wear a wide shoe/boot and did not feel that these sandals were too narrow. Length seems to a little long, but not so much to change your shoe size. I ordered in the same size as I would have for a regular keen sandal and they were fine. The cinching cord is LONG! You will be tucking it away once tightened for riding. The Commuter II's are suposed to have a strap instead, which would probably be better (don't want that cord coming loose and getting into the drive-train. Overall, i am very happy with the purchase and will buy more if I see them on sale somewhere.

I have had these for a week now. I ride 15-20 miles a day. I wanted something that would breath and be overall, lighter than my normal biking shoes. They feel true to size, I could see how if you have a wide foot they might feel too skinny. Admittedly, when I first tried mine on I thought they were too skinny. These sandals will stretch so you want to be pretty snug in the begining. I think they are pretty solidly built. I Paid $68.00 for mine no need to pay more. Unless there is a sizing issue.
Loving these things!!!!!!!!!!!!!! peace

insanely narrow,

Good overall design, as is typical for Keen.
Buy insanely narrow! Little toes stuck out the side! Made for sub-species of human with 3 toes per foot, it would seem. I miss the old shimano sandles that were less shoe-like than the newer versions. Come on keen, make a wide shoe. Or at least a normal, not narrow shoe.

Ventilate your feet while maintaining peddle power. These sandals not only look great, they perform as if they were professional racing shoes. A stiff foot bed and well recessed clip mount top off what is the "must have" riding sandal.

Great Sandal,

Good quality sandals but I have other Keen Shoes so I may be biased.
No problems clipping in to my Shimano pedals and stay on my feet just fine. I ride a SWB low racer recumbent bicycle and these couldn't have worked out better. I have 11.5 size feet and the shoe fit comfortably just like my Mizuno running shoes do. |
