This Network+ set separates those who know, from those who don't.,

When it comes to technical writing, I'm extremely impressed with Sybex. I have read books from other publishers such as Cram Exam, McGraw/Hill ect., but Sybex sets a new standard. If you work in the IT field, then you know troubleshooting and unique problem solving is a must have. Just puking out exam facts and terms may get you past the test, but it won't get you a better job or advance your career. The Sybex group will give you knowledge well beyond the scope of CompTIA's Network+ objectives, and this is what will set you apart from your co-workers when it comes time for a promotion or a pay raise. Not only will you pass the test, but it will provide skills that can be used NOW! You'll be able to SHOW your employer that you didn't just "pass" a test; rather, you actually learned something that can be used on the job, and this increases your "worth" to that company. We've all met people who boast about knowing something, that they really know little to nothing about. Don't be that person; use Sybex materials for your studies.

Excellent study material for the Network+ exam,

As others have said before me, Todd Lammle's book gives you everything you need to pass the N10-004 exam, while giving you knowledge outside of the exam, which could surely come in handy in the professional world. I really like his style of writing, which was humorous at times, and explained things in an easy to understand manner. The chapter on subnetting was especially well done. I've read some other explanations of how to subnet, and his was by far the best. I also read Bill Ferguson's book, which really cemented the knowledge I needed to know for the exam. There were also some parts where I felt Bill did a better job of explaining things, like on the structure of MAC addresses. After I read Mr Furguson's book, I went back and reread Lammle's and was finally able to understand what he was he was trying to say. I haven't got into the street smarts book yet, but I intend to when I buy routers and switches to study for the CCNA cert. If you buy this book, and you take the time to learn it thoroughly you will definitely pass. I got a score of 829.

I purchased this book in July 2009. After thoroughly reading it for a month, I took the exam in Nairobi (Kenya) and passed with a high score. I'm greatly satisfied with its content and recommend it for Network+ exam preparation. Thanks, Daniel Kisembo Semire.

This was a great set of material. The information was very well organized and clearly written. However, the material should have been proofread a little more. Some questions had wrong answers, but by the end of reading and studying, you should realize what the right answer really is. I passed the test extremely easily with this text. Highly recommend; passed with an 856.

Good enough,

This was the only material I used to study for the Network+ 2009 Certification and I passed on the first attempt. I would give it 5 Stars, but there were a handful of questions on the example exams that had incorrect answers. There is no need to read the Network Administrator Street Smarts book in order to take the test. I didn't even look at it. You only need the Study Guide and the Review Guide to pass the test. I will probably read the Street Smarts book if I ever get a job in the Networking field.

I was very impressed with the CompTia Network + I find it easy to study as well as read. Todd Lammle study guide is very well done and I have to say I enjoy how he sets up the material. The review also goes very well with the study guide. I have gotten through about 8-10 chapters so far of the study guide and read the first chapter of the review guide at this point. I have not read the real world networking guide yet that also is packaged but look forward to checking it out soon.

Best Network+ Package for Exam,

I found the content and material to be similar in quality to the Security+ certification kit (very good by the way). I read through all three of the books and they are useful both for learning real world skills and for taking the exam. I particularly enjoy the Street Smarts books and the Network Administrator one is no exception. Once passing the exam it was the only book I still have. I used this training package plus a paid for computer based practice exam to pass the test on the first try. The only real downside is the test prep questions and exams, like most of these packages, are pretty lack-luster. It would be nice if they would charge more, but provide much better practice tests. I would recommend this training/study material for anyone taking the CompTIA network+ exam, but definitely buy additional practice exams.

I searched the net looking for more than adequate study materials to study for the Network+ exam. I found several possible sources. Consequently, I chose Mr. Lammle's book based on the reviews. I opened the book and began to read and was almost immmediately immersed in the quality work that was put into the book. It was a relatively easy to read book that kept my interest from cover to cover. I hadn't studied subnetting for several years but the chapter on it in this book made it easier than ever (along with some youtube tutorials). Do the problems in the book and you should have a good grasp on subnetting. I then read Mr. Ferguson's book and he explained and made clear some concepts that I was fuzzy about. Then I re-read Mr. Lammle's book once more to refamiliarize myself on all that I had learned in preparation for the exam. I started to read Street Smarts but realized that it wasn't going to help me with the exam and I felt that I actually needed the equipment that it talks about to better understand what it was teaching. I read about a chapter and a half before giving up on it. After finding and doing more online quizes found on the Internet I felt I was ready for the exam which I took and received an 856 score. Not perfect but I am satisfied. I would say I spent about six weeks getting ready for the exam and I don't think I could have done as well without this set of books. It didn't cover absolutely everything I needed but still it was well done and was worth getting.

I'm sure that all of the information I need is in the book. It's generally well written, contains examples, and appears to be comprehensively detailed. I purchased this book over other titles on the same subject because this is the one that CompTIA is recommending on their own website. Having finished the main study guide, I only have one negative thing to say about the publication, and that is that the author has a tendency to be a bit tangential--there are occasions when a significant amount of extraneous information appears in the text--some chapters are heavier in it than others. There is also one occasion where he makes jokes about user intelligence which I feel is a bit unprofessional. Other than those things, it's an excellent book.
