THIS is the dictionary I have been using to learn Latin American Spanish. It is the sine qua non for use in American countries, nay, on American continents. Since virtually EVERY word has several meanings when translated, it is quite a BOON to have this dictionary specifying which one of many translated words to use. I have seen many people bamboozled by foreign-language dictionaries, but none done so hereby. I recommend it to my English students as THE *ONLY* one to use until one has achieved the near-fluency which requires a bigger dictionary. This is *perfect* for the man-in-the-street. If-and-only-if a word I need is not in this dictionary, I use the Larousse Gran Diccionario in two large tomes: one for Engish-Spanish, and one for Español-Inglés.I have four copies--one for desk, one for car, and two extras in case it goes out of print, or I lose one. Excelentísimo. Honest. |
