4.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Setting, June 12, 2002

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Compact Arkham Unveiled (Call of Cthulhu) (Paperback)
It is a measure of how beautiful and realistic Chaosium's Arkham has become that a book as large and complete as this one feels like a rushed summary. In each entry for each section of town the major NPCs are described, brief ideas for encounters and adventures mentioned, references to the supernatural, if applicable, are put into place. Apparently this is an abridged version of an even larger and more complete, now out-of-print version without the word "compact" in the name. I've acquired a used copy already. This book comes with no specific adventures in the back, but every page or three inspires a new one, or references a Lovecraft story you can use. Want your players to be able to just wander across Arkham and encounter interesting and appopriate people and settings at every turn? This is the book for you, at least if you aren't willing to scrounge for a used copy of the 1990 unabridged edition.
