4.0 out of 5 stars Leica D-LUX 2
This is a revolutionary top of the line point & shoot camera for the knowledgable digital photographer. RAW files give superb images effortlessy up to 8.5 X 11" (at which point some noise may show up in printing); there is no shutter lag to speak of, the Stabilizer function really works to make low-light shooting possible--to name only a few of the stand-out features...

3.0 out of 5 stars Same as the Panasonic Lumix LX-1
This particular Leica is simply a re-badged Panasonic Lumix LX-1, which sells for a lot less. Now, for the image quality, I would have ranked it 5-star, it is simply one of the best P&S digital cameras in the market (and I agree with the DPReview review on the LX-1 as well). Unfortunately, simply because of the price point that Leica sells it at, while not having any...

This is a revolutionary top of the line point & shoot camera for the knowledgable digital photographer. RAW files give superb images effortlessy up to 8.5 X 11" (at which point some noise may show up in printing); there is no shutter lag to speak of, the Stabilizer function really works to make low-light shooting possible--to name only a few of the stand-out features. Its small size makes for easy carrying and inconspicuous candid shooting. The manual is excellent, and controls/menus are well thought-out. The only thing I regret a little is that it is difficult to hold securely. I also miss a range-finder, no matter how primitive, because the LED screen in bright light is difficult to visualize. I do not in the least regret the significant cost of this jewel.

Unfortunately, simply because of the price point that Leica sells it at, while not having any difference between the two, I have to rank it at 3 stars, and I think that's fair, because it has now failed the value-for-money test.

If you care about prestige, and are willing to pay extra for the L-badge, by all means get this. Otherwise, if you only care about the image quality and the great ergonomics of this camera, go over and get the Panasonic Lumix LX-1. It's the same thing.
