4.0 out of 5 stars Great quality, but HUGE. EXCELLENT shipper- best packaging EVER
I am into "green" things, and have long wanted to find bulbs that would fit into hanging lamp/chandelier over my glass dinner table. For whatever reason, I was always replacing bulbs. Probably every 3 months or so.

I could not find CFL's with this socket size - but I figured they must exist.

Presto! I go to Amazon, and there they were, and in...

1.0 out of 5 stars Huge bulbs don't fit.
These bulbs are HUGE! A standard candelabra lamp is about 3¼" long (depending on the type of tip) by 1¼" wide. These monsters are 5½" long by 1½" wide. I tried them in my post lights and they looked ridiculous. I didn't even bother trying them in my chandelier as they would not fit. If they did, they would look hideous anyway. They sell these pretty cheap at Sam's...

I am into "green" things, and have long wanted to find bulbs that would fit into hanging lamp/chandelier over my glass dinner table. For whatever reason, I was always replacing bulbs. Probably every 3 months or so.

I could not find CFL's with this socket size - but I figured they must exist.

Presto! I go to Amazon, and there they were, and in a 5 pack , which is exactly what I needed. ( there are also single packs out there, but this was a great value).

Be aware, just as other reviews mention, the bulbs themselves are LARGE,and might not be as elegant as you might enjoy now. At first, I was a bit taken aback, but them came to like them. Clean crisp light, and are listed to last for 4++ years!

When some friends saw the bulbs, they were impressed by the energy savings and new tech.

I was VERY IMPRESSED by the shipping from this vendor- great care was taken with bubble wrap, inside and outside the box - really impressive. I will look to them in the future for lighting needs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of uses other than a chandelier, April 17, 2010

Yes, these bulbs are bigger than standard candelabra bulbs and shaped less artistically. But this type of bulb is found in places other than the dining room. A lot of residential hallway light fixtures (for example the ones in my foyer & connecting hallway) are also pointy E12 bulbs, and no one noticed the difference when I put these in. An even better use is the lamppost in the front yard, since it's on all night every night, so the lower wattage and longer life save a lot of money.

4.0 out of 5 stars they work for us, March 2, 2010

While I agree that these bulbs are odd shaped and large, they have saved the day for us in a large kitchen light fixture we have which was originally designed to fit 6 40 watt INTERMEDIATE base bulbs, which are very expensive and hot burning. I wanted to find a fix for that bad situation (and those bulbs which burn out so quickly), and was pleased to find adapters taking the intermediate base to candelabra and then these odd bulbs which are cool and burn much longer. They are much cheaper in the long run and even if they are strange looking, I just can't mind seeing them under the circumstances. (They actually hang down in a large pot rack and don't look too bad.) They are not sized for a normal chandelier, and the designers need to work on that, but they could be used in any other candelabra base or with an adapter where one is looking for a 40 watt equivalent bulb, as we were.

They sell these pretty cheap at Sam's Club but I really can't think of an application due to the size, so back they go. I can't comment on the light quality because I never got that far. Since I knew I had to return them, I didn't want to "use" them.
