Ella at her swinging and blues singing best. Good variety of styles and moods showcasing Ella's amazing performance energy und ultra dynamic vocal range. The live cuts are particularly nice, as they reveal her charm and mastery at improvisation and scat singing. Her backing bands on this disc provide just the right chemistry to set this jazz goddess soaring. My only complaint is that I wish this disc would be remastered to take advantage of significant sonic improvements in digital remastering technology since this disc was first released.

Of the 50 or so discs of Ella Fitzgerald that I own, this is my favorite. It's a perfect blend of her strengths. Every note out of her mouth is pure joy.
