The Cambridge binding is flawless. The text is very readable. I would highly recommend this Bible version and Cambridge edition to anyone interested in a closer walk with the Lord. Of course, all Cambridge bindings far exceed today's standard in the quality of craftsmanship. Explore the world of the NEB.

This is a lovely edition of the REB. The color and texture of the leather are especially beautiful. Cambridge does it again!!
The REB is a good, literary translation, good for reading and
comparison with other translations. The print size is good too.
This gets and A+ from me!!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Revised English Bible, March 31, 2000
This review is from: REB Compact New Testament Burgundy Calfskin REBNT7 (Leather Bound)
Building on the New English Bible of 1970, the Revised English Bible represents a new generation of scholarship. The revisers used the Novum Testamentum Graece edited by K. Aland et al.(26th edition,1979) as the major point of reference. The archaic "Thou" was abandonded and a more inclusive language used where the text demands. Additional aids for readers have been included. Overall, a very readable text and an excellent translation.

I seem to have bad luck with Cambridge's leather bindings. The bindings on both this volume and the full-size leather REB (ISBN 0521509556) both cracked such that pages have begun to pull apart at the front and back of the volumes, though fortunately not out of the binding. I returned the latter to Amazon, but kept this one simply because it is perfect for keeping in my briefcase. I've had this volume for almost four years now and have really enjoyed taking it with me on business trips.

Beautiful red leather cover. The paper is (probably necessarily) very thin and feels flimsy. I didn't feel the font size was too small and appreciated the fact that layout was done in a single column rather than compressing it into two. I love the Swift font that Cambridge uses and find it very readable. My only wish is that Cambridge had also included the Psalms and Proverbs - apart from my binding issues, this would have made for the perfect portable devotional Bible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality New Testament, May 18, 2009
This review is from: REB Compact New Testament Burgundy Calfskin REBNT7 (Leather Bound)
I purchased this Revised English Bible New Testament several years ago, and use it daily. It's held up very well, the binding is tight, the red leather cover is very high quality and looks and feels nice. The text on each page is single column, which makes it easier to read. The print style of the font is clear and easy to read, but I wish it was one size larger. This is an expensive book, but well worth the investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Perfect Pocket New Testament, March 25, 2008

Cambridge has done it again! This is just about a perfect pocket New Testament. The calfskin leather cover is wonderful. It's a dark red with gold lettering. Very soft and perfectly symetrical in every way. Feels great in your hands and even smells great! The paper is traditional Bible paper, thin with gold edging. The print is very, very good for a small coat pocket New Testament. The print is extremely clear and very readable. I also like the single column format. Comes in a slip case, with a ribbon marker and presentation page. Highly recommended!
