The Barogue Companion- A reference book,
By Jerassimos Coidan (Berchem, Antwerpen Belgium) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Companion to Baroque Music (Paperback)
It is a very good presentation, a real tool for advanced baroque musicians. It includes a huge amount of articles, but sometimes a bit brief. Composers have been sorted by country or region. In fact, the book is a Composer's Lexicon, though there are some background chapters. Until now, I didnt find out a name missing from the list. What is extremely helpful is the index pages at the end. Be sure to consult them! One will only be disappointed if looking for a name slightly earlier or later than the 'traditional' baroque limits. Finally, it is a necessary and useful tool. |
